Seasider
Anyone seen the new movie yet? Is it age appropriate for a tween? I know it's PG-13, but that doesn't always tell me what I need to know.
gardenmom5
I've only seen the trailer - and it was pretty graphic violence.
Seasider
Yes, I thought it looked pretty intense. But sometimes they show all the most exciting stuff in a trailer and then the rest is not too bad. Probably will end up going without dd, but wondered what those who had seen it might have to say. El...
I wonder too! Remember how violent the classic was for its time? Those wheels! Brrr.
Serenade
I just hope it sticks to the book moreso than the original. My DS and I both read it this past year, and then we watched the classic movie, and frankly, I was disappointed. Major, major changes to the storyline.

Miss Tick
Imdb.com has a "parent's guide" if you scroll down below the cast stuff. It might help give you a heads up.

I read the books many years ago, so maybe that will help me if it doesn't stick close to the original. I remember being disappointed with the Charlton Heston version after reading the book.
Peaceful Isle
I've only seen the old version. If I think something might be too violent, but want the kids to see it, I wait till it is out on vidangel. That way I can set my own limit on violence. :) My kids have seen tons of the superhero movies this way. So awesome.

Okay I feel illiterate now, I truly did not know there was a book. I thought the story came out of that golden era of Hollywood epics. Serenade
This review might be helpful. Based on this review, it sounds like the movie will divert from the book quite a bit. :-(
Sammish
Common Sense Media has a review up here. It looks like it's fairly violent, and they recommend ages 14+.
gardenmom5
This review might be helpful. I couldn't access that review. I had some "buy your tickets here' ad pop-up and there was no way to close it. as for commonsense media's review - I thought this quote was useful: the film is let down by a script that telegraphs plot points and has plenty of cliched writing. Hmm...the link works for me, and I don't get a pop-up when I pull it up. If you're interested, you could try going to pluggedin.com. The review is on the main page.
