LarlaB Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I'm looking for a bracelet to serve as an expression & reminder of the process that healing can be- emotionally & physically & spiritually No bouncing back, no going to back to who you were, but a deep contentment with now, an acceptance of the change that has happened and a reminder to be patient and gentle and open. So yeah. A bracelet to embody that. :) Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) I have a ring that does this for me, and reminds me to be patient. It has a crucifix on it, set in such a way so that I see it every time I look down at my hand. These are not made anymore, but I found mine on ebay. I wear it on my forefinger, as the designer did, so it's quite easy to see. https://www.google.com/search?q=luther%27s+wedding+ring&espv=2&biw=1097&bih=542&tbm=isch&imgil=ZscWPw2oo0_fHM%253A%253ByDvX7CDaLL8SsM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fproto57.wordpress.com%25252F2010%25252F12%25252F05%25252Fis-that-you-martin-luther%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=ZscWPw2oo0_fHM%253A%252CyDvX7CDaLL8SsM%252C_&usg=__huqZbB8AgJmA19YZ24azhz_9ZS0%3D&ved=0ahUKEwiAp838ybfNAhVMzGMKHbssBNIQyjcINw&ei=-mNoV4DCN8yYjwO72ZCQDQ#imgrc=ZscWPw2oo0_fHM%3A Edited June 20, 2016 by Carol in Cal. Guest Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Could you maybe make yourself one and meditate on your journey forward while making it? That association of your goals and dreams with the physical symbol could be really helpful. Good old fashioned friendship bracelets/macrame or the more modern incarnations using parachute cord would be my suggestion :) Quote
MercyA Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I would try Etsy if I were you. Hope you find something you love! 1 Quote
nd293 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I would also browse Etsy for ideas and have something personal made up. I like the idea of a ring for this as you can have something personal engraved on the inside. You might be able to do the same with certain bracelet/bangles? I'm not sure if you're religious but there are lots of examples of Hebrew-engraved rings online, and some examples of bracelets. (I'm not religious but was looking for a ring with a Hebrew phrase "This too shall pass" on it and found engraved items to be quite widely available.) That might give you somewhere to start. Quote
Pippen Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) We were just shopping for a Pandora charm bracelet for my teen daughter, and I was admiring the nature themed charms. I thought the starfish charm was lovely, and as starfish can even regenerate limbs when wounded it might serve as a symbolic reminder. http://www.pandora.net/en-us/explore/products/charms/791905czf/by/theme/~120 Edited June 20, 2016 by Pippen 1 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 You know, maybe images of metamorphosis would fit with this, like a butterfly for instance. 1 Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Pandora-style is cool because you can choose charms to represent the changes, people you love, etc. Quote
happi duck Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I'll be "listening" in. I've been wanting a bracelet to serve as a reminder of how I want to treat myself. 1 Quote
LarlaB Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 OP here.... I found this http://recoverybracelet.com/product/the-original-with-sterling-silver-clasp/ and really like it- although the color palatte is not my taste, nor the gloss finish...but the symbolism is beautiful! I may contact the artist to see if she could create a more muted, neutral toned version for me. (OR if there are any jewelry makers here who have an etsy store, let me know :) But thought I'd pass it on in case anyone else is interested..... I am a person of deep, living faith, so incorporating that is also important. Thanks for suggestions! 3 Quote

Happy Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Denita made me a leather cuff with a silver rectangle with the word stronger on it. Stronger was my word during chemo. Loved the cuff-- Here is her etsy shop -- you may have to cut and paste to get there. https://www.etsy.com/shop/GypsySoulWishART 3 Quote
