serious caramel corn question

I have never made this before.  Should I make it with brown sugar, corn syrup etc or use the kraft  prepackaged caramel candy.  if you have done it both ways, which do you prefer?  Which would taste better.

 

I know it isn't a serious question but I seem to be paralyzed with indecision.  lol

Wow, all you people have successfully made caramel corn.  I've tried it 3 times, carefully following recipes, and have had terrible failure. The popcorn deflates!  it tastes good, but it's not nice and fluffy.  It's all tiny bits. 

 

What am I doing  wrong?  I am using karo/brown sugar/butter.
