Katy
I didn't take that to mean she was symptom free. I took it to mean she's relieved her children won't lose her at a young age due to something preventable, that aging is preferable to dying young. Being happy with a choice doesn't mean the choice has no negative consequences, only that it was the right one for you.
Guest
I took it to mean she had light symptoms. That's better than a horrific time of it!
mommaduck
I have know some women that menopause has been a blessing for.
Cammie
I also took it that she wanted to say to women...aging is OK. This menopause thing is not the end of the world. We need to understand we still have value until the end of our lives.
Liz CA
Well... after hysterectomy I have been feeling better than I had in 10 years prior. I have a nice naturopath who balanced my hormones naturally and I am good to go.
GinaPagnato
I wouldn't say that I loved being in menopause, but it was certainly wonderful being able to plan trips and vacations without having to take into consideration when my period would be. Cramps always left me doubled over in pain! Good riddance to that nonsense!
gardenmom5
and if you had your ovaries removed - you'd be all done too. I had a gyn who wanted to do a hysterectomy - I found a different surgeon. it just made me uncomfortable, as I didn't think her reasoning was legitimate. however, there are days. . . . . but, there still wasn't a legitimate medical reason for me.

To be clear: I don't advocate oophorectomies for convenience sake. I had no choice but I was and still am pleasantly surprised by the few menopausal symptoms I am experiencing. This may be a blessing for me because I know others are not as fortunate.
kiwik
I had surgery for the same reason as Angelina. I was getting some hot flushes before and am getting about the same now. I would not do it if i hadn't had to but it hasn't been as nad as I feared.
Hikin' Mama
BTW, I am happy for her. I hope it didn't sound otherwise. But I will admit I am a little jealous, as perimenopause and menopause have not been very fun for me or anyone I know going through them. I think my hormones are actually getting regulated once again, though, for the first time since I quit nursing my dd. I was 31 back then and am 48 now. Things have been wonky in all those years in between.

I know some women have medical reasons for why it is necessary - I was saying for me, It wasn't and my dr still wanted to remove them.
