You can always add a negative sign in front of both numbers to make the question solvable.

 

My oldest would probably edit the question by swapping the numbers though. He had edited typing errors before on his worksheets. My youngest would happily draw a big question mark at the answer space.

Am I missing something?

 

Well, thinking outside the box, I like the numbers 7, 4, and 42 greater than I like the number 912,000, but less than I'd like $900,250.

 

7, of course, is the number I like least of my three favorites since it's such a common favorite and 42 simply has to be the greatest of those - just because.

 

Would that work?
