EndOfOrdinary
I have no one else I can tell, but I am so proud of DS. He nailed his federal testimony today for a draft environmental impact study. It involved so much time researching and crunch raw data, cost benefit anslysis of multiple economic factors, and lots of decoding obscure language to find flaws. This one was not able to use emotional appeals in consideration and he is not used to that. I was very worried he was not going to pull it off. When he walked back up the auditorium isle he was holding back tears, but he made it to the darkened back with me before he lost it in relief. It was a major milestone. Thank you for letting me get that out!

EndOfOrdinary
If anyone cares, here is a link to the regional news that included some of his comments. It is very weird to see your kid in a news montage: http://www.king5.com/story/news/local/2015/10/08/oil-by-train-grays-harbor-hoquiam-renewable-westway-daeuthen/73621298/ Thanks for the support. I will tell Ds. It is sometimes really difficult to parent a kid who does sort of weird stuff :)

Dmmetler
Congratulations! That balance between emotions and facts is a hard one to nail. And it's made even harder when you have to overcome the "Awww...that's so cute" response which tends to play to emotions innately.

MEmama
DS and I just watched the video--so impressive! Very inspiring to see a young person making a difference and pursuing his passion. That takes some serious moxie to speak in front of so many people.

sportsmom
He did well from what was shown in the video! Good for him for researching and being able to support his opinion and then vocalize it in a stressful setting. I would never have known that he was as scared as you previously mentioned from watching him.
SunshineMom
Awesome work! Thank you to your son. Lawmakers need to hear more appeals from informed and righteous children and youth.
