Night Elf
A long time ago, I frequented a restaurant that served a cold custard type of breakfast cereal. I'm fairly certain they called it a custard, but it was sort of like cream of wheat. What was that? When I google, I'm getting pictures of what looks like pudding. Ms.Ivy
Maybe a farina pudding? I remember a recipe like that in an old Joy of Cooking book my mom had. Maybe something like this? Farina custard
Slipper
Maybe rice or tapioca pudding?
Lady Marmalade
Hasty Pudding or Indian Pudding would be made with cornmeal.
Rosie_0801
My mother used to make something like that out of rice flour instead of cream of wheat.
zoobie
Was it oat-based? There are overnight oat recipes that are cold. Night Elf
It reminded me of oatmeal but it didn't have flakes. It was grainy though. It wasn't smooth like a pudding.
Rosie_0801
Ground rice like I said would have a grainy consistency.

Corraleno
In the UK, there's an instant semolina that's like cream of wheat with sugar and powdered milk and flavoring mixed in, and it has a slightly grainy texture but a custard-like consistency. My late FIL used to eat it for breakfast with jam or a little lemon juice.
Night Elf
The texture was soupy and my (then) husband ate it with honey on it. I think it also had cinnamon in it. Oh well. But this talk has made me want rice pudding.
