shukriyya
There are lots of non North American based folks on the boards here--Europe, Asia and Australia to name a few. I imagine Negin falls in that category rather than toning her abs, arms and waist at one a.m. Heavy storms prevented me from two hill hikes this week though I've been out the past three consecutive days putting my hill time in. Inertia prevented me from any yoga-Pilates the other days ;) Today, long rambly non-hill hike with pups in the a.m. and later an hour hill hike. Slache
I've worked out in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep. Exhaustion plus fitness a sleepy Slache makes. I'm getting a Jawbone Up24 today or tomorrow. Any of you fitness fanatics have a thought on that before I order it? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M7F4IY0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1WKKLV633AVKD&coliid=I24ZCMBDQDEMKK&psc=

The one you linked looks good. Can't tell if it's got a heart rate monitor so if that's important to you you might want to do some further research on that particular model. Was it you who mentioned wanting something more feminine than a fitbit flex? I'm looking at a fitbit flex in a very non-feminine slate grey ;) but I have concerns about the radiation being emitted from them and have refrained from buying one for that reason. Google searches give you all kinds arguments yay and nay as well as a lot of conflicting info depending on the source so I'm still on the fence where no calories ever get burned. Kim in Appalachia
I woke up an hour early this morning, so I decided on a 30 minute yoga practice. I practiced by my lit Christmas tree, and I turned on the fire (it's gas). It was very nice. Right now, I need a nap. :)
rieshy
Rest day today but yesterday I got to spar in one minute matches with 30 seconds of rest over and over again with a black belt that took the time to give a lot of constructive criticism. It's amazing how long one minute can be.

Or do you work out in the middle of the night?Signed,Curious I keep giggling at your signature name . I'm in the Caribbean and our clocks never change, so right now we're one hour ahead of the East Coast. I am a morning person and very seldom do I get to workout if I don't do it early in the day. Now and again, I might swim later, but that's not always possible. I imagine Negin falls in that category rather than toning her abs, arms and waist at one a.m. Well, not quite, but close enough. It's almost 5 AM right now . Kim in Appalachia
This morning was kettlebell. It was heavy squats and lunges, push-ups, cleans and half TGUs. I also did a tabata of snatches at the end. I'm planning on pull-ups today, and some restorative yoga tonight.

Mom-ninja.
Congratulations!!! What a wonderful accomplishment! Thanks! It was a hard day for him, and for me by default. It's not easy watching your child struggle physically and emotionally, and you have to stand on the side and let them fight their way through it. In this case it was a literal fight. Even though they wear protective gear watching people attack your kid is a highly stressful and adrenaline pumping experience. I've obviously seen him spar many many times over the last 7 years, but this was intense. The opponents really went after the tester and pushed them to the limit. I was not the only parent crying! Day 8/105: Cardio Hugs Mom-ninja. I'm grateful to not have an emotionally draining life anymore but there are those days. Well, it was all positive events but just roller coaster emotions to go along with it. When all is said and done it was a rewarding weekend, but I was DONE by the end of it. All day long on Sat and Sun I had to keep reminding myself to breath. I was going to force myself to go for a run (and you all know I'm not a fan of running) but it turned into playing freeze tag with my kids for an hour. So much better than boring running. Snickerdoodle
Let's talk hair. I have to wash it every time I WO or go to MA which means it's getting washed a lot. Kim in Appalachia
I wash it every time too, but right now I'm only using conditioner to help with dryness. My hairdresser said that Argan (???) oil worked very well. It's pricey, but she said it lasts a long time and really works.
Negin
I'm planning to do Leslie, but since I don't have as much time as I would like, I may only be able to 1 or 2 Miles. Let's talk hair. I have to wash it every time I WO or go to MA which means it's getting washed a lot. I've been putting almond oil in it after washing to help with the dryness but ugh....What do you all do? I just hate to have that sweaty head feeling and then not wash it... I don't wash my hair every time. I usually wash and condition once or twice a week, preferably once. I wet it in the shower when I need to, but if I were to wash it every day or so, I'd have even frizzier hair than I already do. Once a week, I leave the conditioner in my hair for 20-60 minutes and put a plastic bag & towel over it. I then comb it gently in the shower when rinsing. Every week or so, if I'm feeling up to it and have time, I have a few deep conditioning recipes that I use before shampooing - ones that I leave on also. That all depends on time. I can share those and more details if you're interested. Almond oil, jojoba oil, argan, etc. - these are all good. You just want to make sure that you don't apply too much to the roots and focus more on the ends.

I've been putting almond oil in it after washing to help with the dryness but ugh....What do you all do? I just hate to have that sweaty head feeling and then not wash it... There is no way I could wash my hair every time I wo. My hair takes forever to dry. I do not use a dryer. If you think of sweat as being mostly water (around 98%) it won't gross you out when you don't wash it. I put my hair up 99% of the time when I work out to keep it off my neck. That helps the sweat evaporate while I'm working out. When I'm done I let it down, fluff it out with my hands, and then style it for the day. The sweat in one's hair does not give off the typical body odor because the bacteria that causes the odor doesn't live on our heads unlike the armpits. So sweat it just water that will evaporate. It's just an adjustment to our perceptions to get rid of the ick factor of thinking sweat must be removed. I now wash once or twice a week. It took me a bit of adjustment time to get here though. I suffered through it and now my hair doesn't need to be washed so often and is much healthier. I no longer have split ends and frizziness like I used to suffer from. Slache
Day 9/25: Upper body strength training I shower twice a day. I wash my hair in the morning with shampoo and conditioner, in the evening I just rinse it out because I'm in the shower soaping up anyway and it makes me feel completely clean. My head even smells like shampoo. The second shower dilutes the oil in my hair and spreads it to the tips. This helps keep it healthy. I also keep my hair fairly short and use a very nice shampoo. Recommended products (from someone with insanely gorgeous and soft hair): Redkin All Soft shampoo and conditioner ($36 for the big double pack at any hair salon) Olive Oil or Apricot Oil ($4 at GNC) for hair and skin once a week NOT MAYONNAISE

Slache
Day 10/105: Plyo I'm really enjoying T25. It's hard, I sweat, but it's where I'm at right now. I was doing things that were out of my league for better results, and that worked out well, but I want mastery. I want to do an entire workout with no breaks, and this is perfect for that. Also, after my first week and finding out what all the workouts are I think I have the perfect schedule: Monday: Cardio Tuesday: Upper body weights and core work Wednesday: Plyometrics Thursday: Yoga Friday: Cardio Saturday: Full body weight training I have 5 weeks and then I'm doing the same things on the same days, but more challenging workouts, then upping the ante again in 5 more weeks. It's all T25 except for the yoga because both my husband and I injured ourselves doing Shaun's yoga.

rieshy
Ditto on the once or twice a week hair washing because of thick curly air dried hair. Monday: some light stretching. I either broke or sprained a toe on Saturday. Tuesday: 30 rowing and elliptical machines. Martial arts- where I floundered because my brain did some sort of weird flush and I couldn't remember any of my Thai combos. Embarrassing but motivating. I wish I could have blamed my toe. Kettle bell class: we did the Deep 6 of this link.

Kim in Appalachia
Ran 3 miles and did a little kettlebell. I think I may have a UTI. I went to the doctor's yesterday, but it didn't test positive for it, so they're going to do a 48hr culture to make sure. I think I just went too early, because I'm worse today. :( I ran to see how it affected my hamstring. I'm planning on going to yoga tomorrow to the miracle working teacher :D She really was amazing. My hamstring has been great. It was a little sore after the run, but not bad and I had no issues doing single-leg deadlifts (well, no issue with my hamstring, my stomach is killing me, which stopped me from finishing my kettlebell workout). In case you didn't know there is over the counter stuff for a UTI. It dulls the pain for a few days and stains your panties orange. Azo is one brand, but I prefer Uristat. My peak weight was 272, and while I currently weigh between 240-250 my doctor says there's no doubt in her mind that I've lost at least 100 pounds of fat, and I've gone from a 28W to a 14. That's what finally did it. I'm strong, fast, and flexible, but when all is said and done I'll probable be an insanely hot 220 pound mama, and it took me a long time to be ok with that.
