Adrianne
I posted a "how to" about this a few weeks back. Thanks to all of the responses, and thanks to the responses a few days ago for icing ideas. I ended up making a chocolate sheet cake with white cream cheese frosting from the Wilton site. I halved the Wilton recipe--even though I'm a frosting freak, I can't imagine how much cake it would frost! I traced out a light saber on paper and then put the paper under the glass pan that my jigglers were in, so I could cut it out easily. I made the handle out of cardboard and covered it in Fruit by the Foot (fruit leather would have been better!). I sprinkled dry jello along the edges of the light saber to give it more of a "glowing" effect. The jello light saber broke a little when I cut out pieces of it, but they stuck back together quite nicely. The jigglers started to melt a little onto the frosting, but it just added to the "glowing" effect. The cake looked a little naked--if I were to do it all over again, I'd add in Star Wars figures, because we certainly have enough around the house! But ds was THRILLED with it, and that's what I wanted. Blog post Awesome job!!!
