Negin
About to soon do this Ellen Barrett workout which I found on You Tube. It's old and I'm not sure how good it will be.
Soror
Woot! It's a new week. I walked every day last week and did MuTu 6 days. Did 2 days of t25 and 1 day of climbing around like a monkey and such.  This week I believe I will be starting the intensives with MuTu which are shortish HIIT workouts, I'm supposed to do these 4 days. We will see how it goes and if I'm ready. I may or may not be moving on to the next level of core depending on how well I can do it.  I read some more and thought some more about pull-ups. I think I'm going to go back to doing my pre-work I was doing and stay at that stage. I was reading on MuTu about assessing about whether or not one is ready to move on to these things and I don't think I can do them well enough, I don't think I can keep my core engage throughout so I'm going to see how I'm doing with this level and try to more actively think about it. I really want to move on but I also want to get back my core strength and it is weak so this is going to take a while and I don't want to do anything that could be damaging.  I've been more active around the house again, which is directly related to how much sleep I'm getting which has been much better overall. I'm also squatting throughout the day and practicing sitting in a low squat for increasing amount of times ala katy says.  I'm considering checking out some local workout classes. Last few times I've tried it just wasn't as fun as I remember but I heard there is a yoga teacher around and I'm thinking I might be in the mood to start back with yoga.
Slache
Something about these threads. When I haven't worked out in a week and a new thread pops up, I'm guilted into working out. They're effective.
Soror
So, I looked up schedules to the local gyms and I think I'm going to check out a Yoga/Pilates class Tuesday. I'm a bit nervous as a lot of Pilates stuff is not friendly towards ab issues. I guess we'll see. I'll only do what I'm comfortable with, nothing else. I asked dh about doing a bike ride today, so I hope that happens. He wanted to do a big canoe trip but I think he is being overly optimistic. I'm not up to a 4 hr canoe trip with the kids, I think they will lose patience well before then and we'll be stuck.
Soror
Ok, I did the first Intensive MuTu workout, that was more challenging than I expected my legs will certainly be sore I had cranked up the squats but there was a lot of them in various positions and other leg stuff as well. So, on second thought I'm just aiming for MuTu Tummy work and walk daily + Intensive 4 x a week (3 to go)+ family fun activity (biking this evening and hopefully one more activity this week). I want to try out at least 1 yoga class as well. If I'm still feeling spunky I'll work on my push-up and pull-up work but not sure.
Kim in Appalachia
This morning was a 10 mile run!  That's the longest run I've done this year, I think.  I did avoid the hills, but even so, my legs felt done by the end.  I also did my 5 sets of 10 push-ups, 5 pull-ups, and 10 swings.  Tomorrow morning will be yoga.  I'll need it.

Snickerdoodle
Yes, it was an super tough workout on a day when I woke up at 3:30 am.  I'm so glad I decided to do it as soon as I could manage after waking up. I started at 6am.  It's done now and I don't even care if I get to all the extra stuff.  Monday a.m.- Walked 1/4 mile without my boot and without the slightest bit of pain!! You are soooooo close. It must have felt like an eternity. Just don't go too hard at MA today.  I will avoid fair food Yes you will because you will eat a very large super healthy meal before going and then you'll be thinking of us during the whole time that you're at the fair, knowing that you'll have to report back.....lol  :gnorsi:
Soror
Ok, I totally rocked it yesterday. I had a full nights sleep, 7.5 hrs which you guys know is as rare as a unicorn at my house. It was awesome to feel so good, I wish I felt that good every day, no wonder I used to get so much done. Â Anyway, I cleaned all morning and then yesterday afternoon I did my intensive workout (25 min) and push mowed the back yard (side-ways up the hill - I thought of you Lisa). I cooked supper and made some snacks and then we went in for a bike/hike. We checked out a new trail that I had been wanted to try. DD2- 4.5yo did so awesome, she didn't complain at all and kept going, it was her longest ride yet. We were there about an hr total. Dh rode the whole time and I took the kids and played on the monkey bars and got a small walk at the end. When I got home I did my tummy work. I felt great all day and was never tired. Â Last night sleep wasn't nearly so good so who knows what I'll get done, I had planned tummy work and a walk, with maybe some push and pull work. My legs are sore so no way I'm doing intensives today.

redsquirrel
Ok, so no exercise this weekend, which I planned because I was busy and sore. BUT this week is going to be tricky. DS2 has no afternoon camp for 2 weeks so I am attempting to fill it up with playdates and outings or else he just mopes. We live in the city so there isn't much to do if we don't plan something. He is truly excellent about playing quietly with legos or reading, but honestly, for how many hours a day can a 9 year old do that? It is currently 10:30 and he's been doing that since 7am, kwim?  So today we are having friends over for the afternoon (after swimming lessons) and i will enjoy it, but be thinking "I just want to work out!!!" lol.  I will try to have enough energy at 8pm. We'll see how it goes. Soror
Ok day yesterday, not much umph due to crappy sleep. Short walk and mutu done. I tried the next level of the core work but I believe I'll stick with level 1 for another week as I wasn't able to do these as well as I'd like. We also took a bike ride- about 30-45 minutes or so. We were going to go canoeing but the bikes were already loaded. I did some push/pull work- 6 sets of 5. I felt I was able to keep my core engaged well throughout these. Although, from some things I read I shouldn't do them at all as I have a small hernia, so I feel torn. I so love doing it but I don't want to make things worse. I don't have any doming or anything while I do them though.  Today should be walk and MuTu core. I'm trying out a Pilates and Yoga class tonight. I'm nervous- it's been awhile since I've done any class period and who knows how much I will be able to do at all. Ok, so no exercise this weekend, which I planned because I was busy and sore. Last night was another good night, about 7 hrs. I honestly cannot remember how long I used to sleep when I was doing good but a few weeks ago 5-6 hrs was a good night so I seem to be improving. I think taking my thyroid pills later is helping me to sleep better. I took them late yesterday because I got up late(due to the rough night). Just did my very first Cathe workout - Core Max (very good workout). My core is pathetic and so weak. It's an embarrassment. Mine is weak as well, we can only improve it if we work on it though.

At all. Not even to one bar. I fall. it's sad. Â Â I don't think I posted my wo yesterday. It was upper body with weights and a short HIIT. This morning I did Cardio/Abs, Brazil Butt, Pilates. My legs are going to be sore. I will remember to roll this evening after I paint my trim. Â I liked the pilates wo as it contained quite a few exercises from the 2 knee books one should do to help heal/avoid knee problems. rieshy
Another 1/4 mile bootless this morning. Â A little sore in the injury but not bad. Â PT exercises. Â Thai combo's doing both the pad holding and the hitting (elbows where kicks should go) with my son- very fun. I love sitting and watching him do his bow staff katas- so pretty. redsquirrel
Wahoo, I pawned my kid off on someone, errr... he was invited over to a friend's this morning. I got in 60 mins of TA. And I ONLY did it because I knew I could post it here. I can do the entire arm workout including the part with 5lb weights. I couldn't do that the first week. And I can do almost all the reps of the other exercises. But I still cannot do the fancy planks. I have to modify so very much that it is embarrassing. But I am doing something during the plank work, not just watching.    Why can't you exercise while he is busy playing? Just set aside a time that is good for you and make that exercise time.   I totally can if it is just him at home. But for these 2 weeks he will often have a friend over. My upper body is so tiny and bony that I am pretty sure I don't have any muscles there. LOL, there is muscles there, just underdeveloped as of now :)  Another pretty good day here since I slept well.  Went to the yoga/pilates class, which was pretty much exclusively pilates as the usual teacher was evidently out. It was nearly all ab stuff that I couldn't do, so I did my own MuTu moves while they were doing anything I couldn't (thankfully I have enough experience and confidence I didn't care to do my own thing :) ). However, I felt all nostalgic as this is the gym I first went to all those years ago (14 now!). I felt the siren call of the weight room :) I thought about jumping into the next class but I didn't have enough cash on me - I was even counting pennies :) Anyway, finished with that and then did a few laps on the walking track. Next I went with dd to the park while we waited on dd2 at dance. We did a bit of walking and balance work and then I did monkey bars. I can do forward and backwards now plus I did it sideways as well- which was hard. I tried the flex arm hang but I had to strain to do it so I'll be waiting on that one- I'm developing some good callouses :)  Tomorrow I plan to do the Mutu Intensives again- I'm still sore from doing them Sunday! I'll also be doing the MuTu ab and walk. I think I'll be trying out another yoga class which is supposed to be all yoga, it's at a different gym, so here's hoping it's better. I might be trying the Yoga/Pilates again Thursday, we'll see. Trying not to go too crazy because I'm feeling so good. It's awesome to have the energy and motivation to be at it again, I just have to remember to be kind to my body :)

Soror
Yesterday I did Intensives again (23 min of HiiT training with a zillion squats- well there is a warm up and cool down in there too). Anyway, the level is perfect for me a bit of a challenge but it doesn't kill me and all the moves are safe. I'm "supposed" to do it 4 x a week but it will likely be 3 as I was it took me a few days to get in another session after being so sore the first time. I also did a walk and mutu belly work.  I went to the Yoga class last night. Much better than what I expected, certainly miles better than the one the night before. This lady actually knows some yoga- not up to par with the 2 studios I've practiced at but it was pretty good. She did do a few pilates moves at the beginning but everything else was yoga.  I did pretty good about not doing moves  that are bad for me but I did the crane and I totally shouldn't have. I let my ego lead there and I felt my hernia. I didn't realize I was straining. I really enjoyed it and plan to go back however this has lead me to look into other places to practice around here. I had contacted my previous teacher, whom I just loved, but she wasn't teaching anywhere last I checked. I think I may touch bases with her again to see if anything has changed. I also looked and the other studio I practiced at after the first closed is still open evidently so I'm thinking about calling there, it is a bit of a drive though.  Today is a rest day, walk and MuTu core work. I slept horribly, took my thyroid way too late and the baby slept like crap- coincidentally or not she had trace amounts of dairy yesterday. Mom-ninja.
Yesterday turned out to be a rest day.  This morning I did HIIT Cardio and all I have to say is that I hate jump squats. Then Cardio Kickboxing I do the moves much slower than he does to protect my knee. If i try to speed up my knee twinges. Then Pilates cool down   So speaking of jump squats, I've been thinking about jumping. I think I'm landing incorrectly. In the one knee book the doctor says most females land incorrectly and that puts more strain on the knee. He said you should land on your toes but then quickly shift your weight into your heels so the back of you legs share the force of landing (and women tend to stay on their toes). But then on FB this morning, during the long jump and 3 bounce back, Daniel said that you should land on your heels and shift your weight to your toes.
Kim in Appalachia
Today was a 5 mile run, then push-ups, pull-ups, presses, and swings. Â Â Redsquirl, I use a green band for my pull-ups, those things are the greatest. Â I've never been one to have any upperbody strength, and that band has made such a difference in what I can do. Â It's helped not only with pull-ups, but my presses have improved as well, and I have some definition to my arms. :)

Negin
Are you enjoying doing Leslie again? It seems like a favorite of yours.  How's the training going? Loving it for now. I've decided to try a plan where I alternate one day of Leslie and one day of something else.
Soror
Yesterday turned out to be a rest day.  This morning I did HIIT Cardio and all I have to say is that I hate jump squats. Then Cardio Kickboxing I do the moves much slower than he does to protect my knee. If i try to speed up my knee twinges. Then Pilates cool down   So speaking of jump squats, I've been thinking about jumping. I think I'm landing incorrectly. But then on FB this morning, during the long jump and 3 bounce back, Daniel said that you should land on your heels and shift your weight to your toes.  I just did a couple of jump squats and it seems to me I land kind of in the middle. I definitely don't land on my toes. I would think landing on your heels would be preferable to the toes but I'm not an expert. Loving it for now. I've decided to try a plan where I alternate one day of Leslie and one day of something else. Great!
Soror
A regular exercise band? Genius. i never would have thought of that. I don't have a bar though. Someday..... You can join me on the monkey bars :)Â Â Did I mention that I'm sore all over? Not sure what did what but my shoulders, triceps and all over my legs. I think going backwards and sideways on the monkey bars did something different. My legs are sore from the intensives so it is a good day to be taking a rest.
