ProudGrandma
put a fan on himself at night even though it's 3 degrees outside? When I go to bed I turn it off...but his face is ice cube cold...and to me, that has to be SO uncomfortable....but is there any really good reason to insist that he not do this? Dandelion
Since you're going in to turn it off later anyway, just let him do it. Obviously it feels good to him or he wouldn't be asking for it.
AmandaVT
I'd let him. I love being cold when I sleep and I love having the white noise of fans too. If he's cold, he'll burrow. :-)
Alte Veste Academy
DH loves the ceiling fan on, even in cold weather. As long as the rest of his body is bundled up so that his core stays warm, I would allow it. Of course, I assume the inside of your house is significantly warmer than 3 degrees. LOL We keep ours at 67.
plansrme
Before we had kids, my husband and I would wake up sometimes and be able to see our breath. Sure we could afford heat, but we liked it cold--we would run the fan, turn the heat off, open a window and burrow under the down comforter at night. For the kids' sakes, we aren't quite that aggressive now, but just wait until we retire to Wyoming...
Mrs Mungo
We have a friend who sleeps with a fan all of the time. He even takes a mini fan on deployments with him.
zoobie
We sleep with a ceiling fan on year-round. When it gets colder, I usually flip directions on the fan so it's rotating the air and providing white noise.
Twigs
I sleep with at least 1 fan on (and sometimes 2), and have for years. I cannot sleep with still air around me and I cannot sleep without the white noise. I also prefer to sleep in a cold room so I can bundle up under the blankets. I also close the vent into my bedroom because the hot air blowing on me will wake me up. Also, what makes you comfortable or uncomfortable has no bearing on whether or not your son is comfortable. ProudGrandma
I figured those would be the answers...I figured it was one of those deals where just because I don't like it, doesn't mean that my son shouldn't do it. thanks. Murmer
Both of my kids do this! I figure if they get cold they will stop or turn it off...so far they just pile on more blankets and are happy.
Mommy22alyns
No, let him do it! I like the extra cool and white noise.
ocelotmom
The only reason I wouldn't allow it would be if he were turning up the heat to compensate, or if he was incapable of using blankets, turning off the fan, or otherwise regulating his temperature. ProudGrandma
he is 9 and is able to cover up, turn it off or whatever, so that is not an issue...so I will continue to let him...
