NotSoObvious
We are going to try to drive up Sunday the 14th. Would it be insane to try to get parking on the mall? It's the last day of the festival. Will it still be crazy busy? We've never gone.
TravelingChris
When we lived there, we would go near sunset. We always got parking.
KungFuPanda
I think it's always insane to try to get parking in DC. We always metro in. Since you meander so much in that city, I think it's easier to walk to the closest metro then it is to hike back to your car.
Neige
We've been the past few years (live in a suburb). I would metro in, honestly. You will probably, eventually find parking, but it is always a hike (and almost always further than the metro stop).
Amira
We just drove in tonight and had no trouble getting parking around 7 PM. When we drove in yesterday around 1, we ended up in a parking garage at L'Enfant Plaza because we didn't want to spend any more time looking for street parking. If it had been just me though, I'd have taken the metro because we live over a metro stop. The blossoms should be wonderful next weekend. They're just about ready to start opening now. Chris in VA
We are going tomorrow. We park at Gravelly Point and walk to the Jefferson Memorial across the bridge. It's a lovely walk.
Stacia
I wonder if the upcoming storms will knock down many of the blossoms tonight/tomorrow???
*lifeoftheparty*
It's very possible, that (storms knocking out the blossoms) happened last year. We went a few days ago, there was NO parking on the mall. We valet parked at the Mandarin Oriental hotel :) We used their lovely bathrooms and they gave us bottled water while we waited for the car to be brought around :)
jen3kids
My mil wanted to go when she was here last week, but instead we opted to go to the National Arboretum. It has lots of cherry trees as well, but also has an incredible bonzai garden and tons of other trees. The magnolias are in bloom now and are awesome. Due to her mobility issues, we didn't get to stroll through much more of the place (it is nearly 500 acres), but the Asia Garden looks very impressive too. Tons of parking and an absolutely beautiful setting.
