redmom3
I found an upright (5') freezer locally and am planning to go look at it this evening or tomorrow. They are asking $150.00 which is probably a great deal-the pictures look great and they say they just don't need it anymore. Just wondering if you would offer less. I sometimes feel bold, but not always:tongue_smilie: They may expect it-I know I ask more than I expect to get. It's been listed since Sunday and they still have it. TXMomof4
I would. In fact, I've never paid the full asking price, or received the full asking price for anything on Craigslist. That's part of the fun is the "negotiating"!
Old Dominion Heather
I'd offer less if you don't think it is worth the $150. Or you could offer less and tell them that if it isn't sold in a week you'll give them your price if they still want to sell.

KIN
I'd do the Ramsey thing and take cash along. :) Offer what you want to get it for, tell them you have that much in cash along and see what they say! I'm going to be doing that with my next big purchase, whenever that will be!
Mommy22alyns
Yes, definitely! I've sold on CL before too, and I've always been willing to accept offers. I just want the stuff gone by then.
Faith
Yep, I'd ask for less. When I sold some things on Craigslist, I was always asked if I would take less. It never hurts to ask.
Carol in Cal.
I am glad to bargain for new cars, furniture, and houses, and also at garage sales, but I think it's a little unfair to visit someone by appointment at their house and then bargain at that point. Kind of like bait and switch.

You know, I was thinking if I were the seller, I would feel the same way - if you already have in mind the item isn't worth the asking price beforehand, let them know upfront so they don't waste their time showing it needlessly. King Alfred Academy
Craigslist has been our friend for the past few months. We have sold so much stuff...we are downsizing and having to get rid of lots of things. Most people have asked us to go lower, but we have "raised" the prices of things with that expectation. We have also bought several things and always ask for a lower price. Doesn't hurt to ask...even if it is just a few dollars.
