ProudGrandma Posted November 25, 2012 Share Posted November 25, 2012 My daughter is 12 and when she wears dresses to church, she doesn't like wearing "little girl" tights...nor does she like the look of leggings...skin colored hose makes her look to old...so what should we do? DarlaS Posted November 25, 2012 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Maybe tights like the ones from Lands' End or Hanna Andersson? Or is that what she's referring to as little girl tights? Point out to her that the Hanna tights come in women's sizes too. Also maybe just cable knit tights? There are also colored tights for women that are a little thicker than hose. Get one good pair in navy, white, ivory and black and she should be good to go. They're not as warm as tights, but it might be a good compromise. In winter we travel for Christmas and I have family members that CAN NOT get sick. If we are sick we cannot go. Because of this I don't really allow much wiggle room. She usually wears pants. I think they're made by Hanes and they're usually hanging by the tights, socks, etc. They are more like a footless tight than a legging. I know they have some fun colors. Maybe something like that? Target carries tights in Small and Junior sizes--in myriad colors and designs. The Assets brand is particularly comfortable and durable. Take her with you and let her pick out the ones she wants--she might be more likely to wear them if she picks them out. There aren't that many choices for warm leg wear: it's tights, leggings, hosiery or pants. :tongue_smilie: (Pantyhose really aren't that warm.) My daughters wear tights or leggings with nearly everything when it's cold. They also often wear leggings and a pair of socks with boots rather than tights--the leggings are thicker and therefore a lot warmer. Target has a whole shelf of rainbow tights by the socks and pantyhose. Leggings are still stylish too. A coordinating pair of footless leggings is very cute. 6wildhorses Posted November 25, 2012 Share Posted November 25, 2012 My daughter wears tall boots along with dresses/skirts that are no shorter than a couple of inches above the boots and also a long coat, so she is almost completely covered without having to deal with leggings or tights.
