Novafan
My son has used Singapore Math for the last 6 years and it's been a very successful choice for us. He does very well in math and I don't want that to change. For those that had great success with Singapore 1-6, what did you use next? roanna
My kids are not there but the other board people always mention Art of Problem Solving (AoPS).
Shelly in the Country
I used a combination of AOPS Intro to Algebra and NEM 1 last year. My dd is doing AOPS Intro to Counting and Probability this semester with a little bit of Dolciani thrown in for some review to keep the algebra fresh. Woodland Mist Academy
We went from Singapore to Art of Problem Solving.
kokotg
DS11 finished 6B when he had just turned 10; we tried AOPS Pre-Algebra next, and it was a bust. He's now doing Jacob's Algebra happily.
Crimson Wife
Is there a reason why you do not want to continue on with Discovering Math 7A/B (formerly 1 A/B)? I'm really liking it for pre-algebra. I haven't yet decided whether or not to do 8A/B or a more traditional algebra 1 like Foerster. But I am glad I decided to go with DM 1. boscopup
My plan is AoPS, but if that doesn't work out, Jacobs Algebra is my likely 2nd choice.
Punks in Ontario
We went to NEM 1, since as Canadian we prefer the integrated approach. For my younger 2, I'm thinking of going to Discovering Mathematics just because of the friendlier format.
MyLittleWonders
We will be there in a few months and have decided to go into Discovering Math (DM) 7A. Dh (a math dude) and I are planning on using it all four years (if it works for us) and then spending the last couple years on advanced math. Knowing my kids, I think only my middle son *might* not completely implode or explode with AoPS. DM, after doing SM during elementary, will be a much better fit. Miss Marple
Singapore in 1-6 Singapore 7-10 Concurrent enrollment 11-12 We've used both NEM and DM. NEM was used before DM came out. I prefer DM. We added AoPS to the line up as well. IMO, if you don't plan to put your students into the system, keep doing what is working. Singapore is excellent and has yielded excellent results for us.
Halcyon
We did a mix of singapore and MM for grades 1-5 ( he is in 5th now and is finishing up 5B now). We began dipping our toe into AoPS last week and so far so good. He is only finishing up Chapter One, so I can't give a thoroughreview. We will do sectioms of 6 as needed. Joani
My oldest used Singapore 5 and 6 (he was in public school through 5th grade), spent a month working through Lial Pre-algebra, then started AoPS Introduction to Algebra. AoPS Pre-algebra wasn't available at the time.
jennynd
My older uses AOPS algebra after he finish 6b. We also has NEM and I might switch back if Aops does not work out. So far he is doing fine.
