Need a good green paint colour

Dh is going to paint the girls' room this week while they are away at Nana's. I want to do green with a wide pink border at the ceiling. I think I'm okay for pink. I'm having a very hard time finding a nice green. They are all either too minty or too yellow or too grey.....you get the picture.

 

Any suggestions?

I LOVE Benjamin Moore Wales Green and Dill Pickle. Google t hem both and you will find several pictures.

 

ETA: If you want more subtlety, go for one shade lighter on the chips. These are bold colors but beautiful, and with pink!

We really liked "cucumber" from Sherwin Williams, although I wonder if it might be too minty for you. I would call it more pistachio. It would look really good with pink though.

Personally I like a sage green with a soft pink. If it is a more vibrant pink, then an apple green goes well.

Wierdly I have been painting bits of my dining room green today in the search for a good colour. I like Ecos Topal or Fjord. They are greyer and softer than mint green. Fjord is the slightly lighter of the two.

It doesn't really have much of the grey tones that would make me call it a sage. It really looks pretty close to a pistachio nut.

Thanks. :) My dd actually picked it out. :) We like it too. I don't have a Benjamin Moore near me so we always use Sherwin Williams, but I like that they have sales so often and have coupons on their website that you can print out. It helps. :)

The BM is a treck for me. I am transitioning everything to SW but I started with BM green in my kitchen and a bathroom so I had to color match them. But they are so darned expensive! Plus, the SW paint is my favorite and it is not drippy.

The BM is a treck for me. I am transitioning everything to SW but I started with BM green in my kitchen and a bathroom so I had to color match them. But they are so darned expensive! Plus, the SW paint is my favorite and it is not drippy.

 

I've never used the BM, but I do like the thickness of the SW Superpaint. I like that it's an all in one too so you don't have to prime. They are really good about the color matching. They changed a yellow for me that I had gallons of to match a photograph! They were awesome!! :)

Thanks. :) It's only got a tiny bit of greyscale in it, but it's not overly bright either. It goes well with all of our furniture too. Well except for that ugly tablecloth. Lol. I took that first pic when I had just finished painting. The walls were yellow before so the red tablecloth went nicely with that. Doesn't look good with the green though. :p

Stem green is much brighter than pictured in the swatch...we swatched that in DS'1s old room and it was too bright (I wasn't going for sage, but that one was way too much green for me).

 

I found DD's lavender color that way. It isn't up currently but it was part of the BM colors for PBK. There was a little pamphlet at my BM store a year ago with colors in kids' rooms that I was able to pick up.

 

I used sycamore green from Restoration Hardware in the downstairs of my last house. That would probably work with pink.

 

The gardenweb website has lots of threads where people post various greens and what they look like on the walls in their house.

SW and BM both carry small sample jars and now the big box stores will do a smaller sample jar for you too. It costs money, but less than buying paint and investing the time, then deciding you don't really like the color.

Much of our main living area is Restful from Behr. It is a darker sage - not dark, just not hte light shade you usually see. Very lovely, and it would be nice with pink (we have it with wheat-y yellow in the hall and orange accents in the kitchen.) It isn't grey or yellow or minty at all.

 

I always go to HD, go through the Ralph Lauren and Martha Stewar paint chips, pick out colors, and then match them to Behr colors. :D

I loved it enough I ended up doing our bedroom in a shade on the other side of Grassland.

Christopher Robin's Swing is the colour I had chosen and then this morning it looked too bright or something and I had second thoughts. It looks great in the rooms you linked though and is very close to the green in dd's bedspread that I like.

Not at all. You would need a somewhat dusty pink, though. It wouldn't make it look too grown up, just more "girl's room in Pottery Barn ad." :D I think it would depend on how you were going to decorate it. If you are going to put in a plastic pink toy box and posters on the wall, it might look off. If you do wood (even painted wood) furniture, framed photos or prints, etc. it will look right.
