MariannNOVA
dh has finally told me he is having tingling like he is being pricked with a pin. He is right on the cusp time-wise of an anti-viral not being administered because he has waited too long. Do we go to the Emergency Walk In Center now? I am telling him that we do. Shingles gets me in a panic because dd31 suffered with it so much.
justasque
Get it treated ASAP. My mom waited, and was knocked out for about a year. Don't wait.
Carol in Cal.
Hurry and they may be able to vax. It doesn't work if you wait too long.
Tap
Sooo very sorry. Shingles is horrid. I had them all over one side of my face 2 years ago. Horrid, horrid virus. It definitely looks like the pattern for the c5-6 dermatome. Get on an antiviral ASAP!!!! If he is still breaking out, he needs it. It will make a huge difference in his healing time. Maybe you can call the doctor on call at the clinic he was seen at and ask them to call it in.
Denisemomof4
Shingles are nasty. I'd definitely go in now. I hope something can be done to minimize the outbreak.
Alenee
GO NOW! Don't wait! Dh had it on the face/side of the head/eye. He had to have a cornea transplant. He was in the ER a week before he got an actual diagnosis and they could've caught it and given the anti-viral but they didn't check his head, where he had a mysterious sore. I look back on that with sorrow. Don't wait. GO NOW! :grouphug:
Catwoman
Another vote not to wait -- the sooner he starts treatment, the faster he will feel better and the less likely it will be that he will get the most severe symptoms. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
swellmomma
I would not wait. The post neuralgic pain in adults is horrid. Even if the antiviral doesn't stop the infection itself it may help reduce the chance of him having lingering pain after the outbreak.
