She practices her lines and music in her room for I don't know how long. This class just last 6 weeks and is the only one we are doing this year. So she does 2 1/2 hours of academic work and probably 2 hours a day of music! Plus, she reads several books a day for fun.
mytwomonkeys
i really have no idea. school takes anywhere from from 3-5 hours. math takes the longest. if she has a paper due, that is time consuming too. other than that, my reading to her still takes a while. we love that part of our day though:)

Durriyyah
Everything is roughly a 6th grade level How long does it take you for these subjects? And which grade is it for? Math - 30-45 min every day Science We "outsource" this to a co-op History We just switched to make this closer to the WTM way... about 3 hours a week?? Grammar We incorporate this into writing right now Spelling We currently do more Vocab focus, about 60 minutes a week (30 min, 2x a week) Reading About an hour a day Writing Roughly 2-3 hours a week (45-90 minutes, 2x a week) Bible Religion studies are about 45-90 minutes a day (includes 4 subjects) Art if any Very informal... 30 minutes a week(??), plus a 2 hour class twice a month Music if any And if you don't do it daily, just add how many days? Just trying to compare...
Woodland Mist Academy
10yo/5th grade Math-- 1-1.5 hours/5 days Science- 1-2 hours/5 days History-- 1-2 hours/3 days Grammar- 1 hour/1 day plus 15 min/5 days Spelling--15 min/4 days Reading--2+ hours daily Writing-- 1-2 hours/2 days plus 15-30 min 5 days Ethics/Philosophy--1 hour/1 day plus at least a few minutes daily Art--from time to time--usually correlating with history or during nature study Music--10-15 min/3-5 days We also do Latin--1 hour/3 days Spanish--30-45 min/4 days Logic--1 hour/2 days Poetry--1-2 hours/1 day plus 15 min/5 days Test Prep. 15 min/4 days Vocab--1 hour/week PE--The goal is a minimum of 30-60 min daily These are roughly the times listed on the schedule. In reality, it varies. For example, if math is taking 1.5-2 hours one day, we may drop spelling and Spanish for the day. We also may add a 6th day some weeks for some subjects. KAM
What are you using for science and History? Two days per week I read a chapter of a science book, the other two days she chooses a science book off our shelf and spends some time reading to herself. We do the same for history, except that I assign a history biography to read and read aloud a narrative history book. I need to work in more experiments but for now we are very relaxed. I also have her, during writing time, write one history paper and one science paper per week.
WeeBeaks
I have a 4th grader. Math - 30-45 min Science 30-60 min, mainly self-directed History 30-60 min Grammar 15 min Spelling15 min Reading ?? Don't do as a separate subject. He reads an hour or two a day on his own, but the items I require are already accounted for in the subject totals. Writing 30 min Bible 15 min Art if any 30-60 min once a week Music if any Not formally. We try to listen to classical and songs of the time period in the car or for a few minutes each day.
