treestarfae
My kids would love roast chicken way more than turkey. Anyone else?
treestarfae
Here's a chicken roasting video~ http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/40200171/ns/today-food/t/forget-turkey-roasted-chicken-thanksgiving/
Cinder
We've done this because my kids don't care for turkey. But we've also had a few times when dh was working on T-day and we've had frozen pizza. :D
kiana
Totally roast whatever you feel like. Make your own family tradition! That is why my family has done away with Christmas fruitcake. None of us like it! So we have extra cookies instead. :)
Janie Grace
I roast chicken all the time so it wouldn't really feel "special." That said, dh and I like the taste of roast chicken WAY better. But.... tradition wins.
Ali in OR
We did this many years in a row. The last two years dh has smoked a turkey breast on the grill, but if he wasn't going to do that, I would probably roast a chicken.
crazyforlatin
DD refuses to have a turkey killed and will only allow it to enter the house if it's a pet turkey. But she's okay with eating chicken. Go figure out the logic of a 6-year old. I did tell her that if DH sees a live turkey in the house, it won't be living for too long. wapiti
We did a chicken a couple of years ago. I love roast chicken, but it just wasn't the same. Now we do turkey thighs - juicy.
Happy
We've done roast chickens before. We LOVE them, so it's always a good choice. We are doing salmon on the grill this year because we are very small bunch on Thursday.
littlebug42
If that is what you want, go for it. Roast chicken is a staple in our diet here but we love the turkey on Thanksgiving. We are also having ham this year too though.
Annie
We're doing chicken this year. It's just the three of us, and we like chicken better. Last year we did a turkey breast on the smoker, and it was very yummy, but it's hard to predict how long it will take because it depends so much on how cold it is outside. kidsnbooks8
We are!! We are doing 2 chickens and a ham.:D My 3 oldest have somewhere else to go and are having turkey before they come here and dh, the kids and I are not crazy about turkey. So we are having a huge, huge, extra special meal with chicken, ham, 3 kinds of potatoes, broccoli rice casserole, green beans, orange jello junk, that salad with broccoli, cashews, cranberries, bacon, onion and sweet dressing, chesnut stuffing, gravy, rolls, and pies, cookies and brownies for dessert. So if you decide to, enjoy your roasted chicken and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!:)

Belacqua
Chicken here, too. Just three of us, and nobody is especially fond of turkey. We have a roast chicken most weeks, so we're making a Middle Eastern-inspired meal to make it a little more special (and I just bought a jar of za'atar seasoning I want to try).
