Suggestions for the best bread machine?

Recommended Posts

I would buy one at a yard sale or Goodwill and wouldn't pay more than $12 to $15. I bought one about 3 years ago at a yard sale for 5 dollars and love it (it's an Oster). I use it at least twice a week. Recently, though, I've switched to using it for the dough cycle only and baking it in the oven. Much better but I understand that's true for all bread makers.

DH makes 3 loaves of bread a week. Lots of sadwiches here. He strongly prefers the ones that make a tall, sliceable loaf (not the short round loaves).

I just bought a hitachi for $10 at the thrift store. Works amazing.

Our previous one cost me $20 and was a Westinghouse (also thrift store) and made excellent bread until it took a dive off the counter one day. It had never been used.

Which is to say - one man's trash truly is another's treasure and you can find lots of nice bread machines that are hardly (or never) used.
