Whitney in KY
My daughter is taking 2 college classes (eng 91 and eng101) her senior year. They are both one semester each. Should I count them as one high school credit or two? What to do????? Thanks!
Brigid in NC
For my two ds's, we have always awarded one credit for each semester-long CC class. I think that is the norm. Good luck. We pushed the "submit" button yesterday. Whew!

Chris in VA
Eng 91 sounds like a lower level class. I would just count it as a semester, if it is. Eng 101 would equal a year here.

dirty ethel rackham
For us, it depended on how many credit hours. Ds is taking classes at a local LAC that is on a quarter system. Most of his classes are 3-4 credit hours. If it is more than 4 credit hours, I would give 1 credit. Under that, I gave .05. Part of the reason is that some of the AP classes are worth 2 classes at the LAC. Those AP classes are only worth 1 credit. But, I know many people who have done it differently and have been successful.
Sunshine State Sue
For us, the CC has a guideline. Comp and Lit are 1 credit, but Speech is .5 credit. All are 3 units at the CC. Perhaps your CC has a similar guideline.
Jann in TX
I counted dd's English 1301 (comp 1) as .5 credits and then gave her .5 credits for her Lit. There was no need to show more than 4 years of English credits... she is NOT an English major (if that would have been the case I may have counted the college course as a full year). Amy in CO
We were told, haven't used it yet though, that if the cc class was 4 credits or more, it equalled 1 high school credit. If it was 3 credits or less, it was a .5 high school credit.
Brigid in NC
I found this explanation helpful: HSLDA. It includes the college credit question. The source can give us some peace of mind, as we navigate these waters. :-) Best, ~Brigid Edited November 1, 2011 by Brigid in NC
