Asterix books-

Recommended Posts

I don't think you'd get the French word play unless you knew French really well. But the people who translated them into English did their best to give the flavor with their own puns and jokes.

There are a significant number of people, apparently, who enjoy the English names better than the French ones. They think they're funnier.

Which language? (They lose so much in English!!) You can read them in any order, technically. My favorite was always Asterix & Cleopatra (the German translation).

We're doing Ancient Rome, so I thought some of these would be a fun addition. I got a bunch of the videos (in German) - my dd just watched Asterix and Cleopatra a few days ago (and had fun pointing out the gross historical inaccuracies. :tongue_smilie:)

We're boring here. Just English. :o My kids can only read in one language. 1dd16c554cd419de043dfdb8b09344bda89a9dad.jpg

I must say, I usually HATE animated emoticons, but I do like the one, "Oh The Shame".

I was looking forward to my dh reading my kids Asterix in french, but... they have no interest in comic books, graphic novels, ... Oh The Shame.
