campmom
Since I'm fixing to order some books I'd like to add some toys, and other fun items to go with MFW Adventures for 2 boys ages 6 and 8. Any ideas? This year I want to hit the basics hard and have fun with history!

imhim
Do they like to color? There are fun coloring books with history info at rainbow- Dover publication. Do they like to build? Forts?
Lily_Grace
I believe we ordered Made For Trade from there. It's a fun game about the colonies/daily life.
campmom
I'll check out Made for trade. I have looked through the dover coloring books and picked out a few of them. Also I found some paper/sticker soldier books for civil war. And some really cool toy civil war solders. I just didn't want to miss something great. Yes, they love to build, does rainbow have fort kits? Thats the kind of things I'm looking for
fourcatmom
Just went to a local home school store and Made for Trade so I splurged and bought it. I hope we all like it! Thanks for the recommendation:001_smile:
plain jane
To go along with the Dover coloring books, I'd throw in a few Jim Weiss CDs. He's got one on American Tall Tales as well as a few others that the kids would likely really enjoy listening to while they color. Oregon Trail game Maybe some dress-up clothes as well? Scholastic also has some great "Easy Make & Learn" books covering various AM history topics. We've enjoyed a number of them. RR sells them but you can also buy them as eBooks directly on the Scholastic site. They have some nice paper crafts, if your boys are into that sort of thing. warneral
There were some neat historical document replicas and bank notes from colonial & civil war areas that I picked up from RR. Here are the activities and games for US History listed at RR: http://www.rainbowresource.com/prodlist.php?subject=14&category=4478 If you want some neat projects, check out these kits. I thought the westward expansion kit looked more unique so I ordered it :O) http://handsandhearts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=
