Ellyndria
DS has used up three glue sticks since yesterday, including one oversized one. He hasn't quite gotten the idea that you don't need THAT much glue in the middle of something, that it's more important for the edges to be glued well. During his art classes earlier this spring, I saw the kids go through a lot of glue sticks, on one project. I always used glue sparingly, I guess a lot of kids don't. Jean in Newcastle
Ours always dry out. We go through a lot of glue sticks but only because we keep having to buy new ones! Of course if dd9 would learn to put the lids back on right away, it wouldn't be as big a problem.:glare:
Rosie_0801
One glue stick per project here too! I think dd considers it a decorative item, like paint. Rosie
Wabi Sabi
Yep! My 3 y/o and 6 y/o go through glue sticks like it's nobody's business! I can't wait for the back to school sales to I can stock up on 10¢ glue sticks. I was going to get some at the store today, but balked at the price of $1.29 for a 2-pack. beaners
We buy liquid Elmer's glue by the jug. I dole it out into the little squeezable bottles when necessary. It's not perfect, and it doesn't work for every project, but we've had fewer disasters than I expected.
abbeyej
When the kids were younger, I would buy *cartfuls* of the stuff at Target's back-to-school sale. Dh would roll his eyes at me and ask how I EVER thought we would use all that. ... And come February, I'd be completely out! lol... He also can't believe the number of pencils we go through in a year. Or... colored pencils... paper... scissors... lol...
Stacia
I thought you were going to say that so many were needed because some kids consider them snacks (in addition to being glue sticks). ;) (Of course, I'm thinking back to the old days when I watched the kid at my table in kindergarten eat our supply of glue on a regular basis. That was liquid glue, though, not a stick. Since I'm not a glue gourmet, I'm not sure of the foodie differences between them....)

She said she didn't have any breakfast that morning.
elise1mds
One kid in my class used to sneak his glue outside and mix it with grass, dirt, etc. He did it purely to watch the teachers react; he never tasted it till he saw they were watching. Ecclecticmum
Yep.... I have a fascination with using Stapler & Sticky tape for anything (since I have young 'uns I'm usually the one putting everything together) if you in the same boat, you CAN NEVER have too much sticky tape! I can't believe the amount I have gone through LOL
