Cricket
We are moving in less than two weeks but we still need to do school. I think we will keep doing math, spelling (SWR) and free reading for the 10 yo. What subjects do you stick with in very busy times?

sleepy
Math, Latin, and assigned reading. Sometimes, if I'm feeling nice, it's: math, Latin, and a subject of your choice (meaning I let each child choose their third subject).
Chris in VA
Math and history. Dd reads plenty on her own and I don't really consider it a school subject. Latin, Science, Spelling, Grammar, Music and Art can all go by the wayside.
Starr
Math, spelling (MCP has a little writing), and assigned but interesting reading.
Alenee
Another for math and reading. We plan to keep math and TOG going through the summer. imo, math is the one subject that should not be stopped if possible. Less, maybe, but not completely. It's good to keep those kiddos busy too while you're doing what needs to be done.
Plucky
Math, reading, & handwriting/cursive (depending on the age).
Karen in CO
Math and reading or math, reading and spelling. We always read, so it doesn't really count, but I have her do content area reading for school lite days. Spelling is twice a week so if a lite day is on a spelling day, we still do spelling. We had a terrible time finding our groove with math, so it is 5 days a week, forever.

Cricket
Thanks! I have to say I'm a little envious of those who said their dc read a lot anyway so that isn't really counted. If only my 10 yo would do the same....sigh. He believes reading is a form of torture.

Jennifer on Earth
Math, Latin and piano. If I feel like reading hasn't been taken care of, I assign that too, but it's usually only an issue for my son. :) Piano and reading are good because they can be taken care of independently. And when I'm extremely busy, independent work is a good thing.
Quiver0f10
Math, grammar and reading. Those get done every day no matter what.
