DarcyB
Check out this map to see how far the Aurora Borealis is going to be extending down into the States in the next few days due to a series of solar flares. http://www.gearfuse.com/three-cmes-headed-towards-earth/ It would be a great display to watch if you're able..sadly it's not coming down far enough for us :(
Teachin'Mine
Thank you so much for posting this Darcy! That's incredible how far south they'll be seen!!! But like you I'll be missing out. Just want to give this a bump hoping that lots can enjoy the spectacular sights. :)
Kathleen in VA
This is so exciting - I've never seen them before. Is there a certain time of the night or direction we should be looking in? I don't have the first idea of how to do this.
Harriet Vane
When and where can they be seen?
oasis
Thanks for the notice. :001_smile: It looks like I'm right on the line of possibility; it would be so amazing if we could catch a glimpse! :D

Kathleen in VA
Is it just me or is there no map on the linked page? I clicked on the words that said "catch a glimpse." Just guessed, but it worked.:)
myfatherslily
Awww, there are very few times when I wish I lived back in CT again - this is one of them! I remember seeing the Aurora Borealis once as a kid (in CT). But I'll stay here and enjoy my 70-degree mid-February day in Alabama instead:D Enjoy those lights!!!:)
Halftime Hope
http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/pmapN.html and many thanks to the OP. It won't come far south enough for us. : (
annlaura
Tonight! I couldn't find any timing recommendations. Just look to the north. I may just peek out a few times to check.
creekland
We had clouds - no lights. Fortunately, I've seen them several times before both here and where I grew up (further north). However, I still enjoy them. I was bummed with the clouds!

Ibbygirl
I wish I could see them just once in my life in person. They are so amazing. I found these on youtube for anyone else who is missing it. Enjoy :) Edited February 18, 2011 by Ibbygirl
sassyscrapperinid
Hey did anyone in northern Idaho see them???
specialmama
We saw some last night. I'll try to make you feel better by saying that it wasn't any different from most northern light shows. There was a bit of blue and pink mixed with the green, but mostly green.
