Chris in VA
I made one out of tights and an old green towel for ds when he was five--but dd is a little too big for that costume! lol What could I use for the main "shirt" thing?
fairfarmhand
A long men's t shirt dyed green?
abbeyej
Big ol' piece of green felt (you can buy for $1 or 2 a yard at the fabric store). Fold in half. Cut a T shape in the middle for her head. Put it over her, fold down the two little flaps (under the T) for a collar, and put a big belt over it. (Obviously she'll need to wear clothes underneath). Cut the bottom of the felt in uneven points.
Mrs Mungo
Go the craft store, they usually have plain, brightly colored t-shirts. Get a big green one, cut the bottom off in a jagged cut and put a belt on it.
Chris in VA
Well, duh! Thanks for the ideas! lol It's going to be in the low 50's, so maybe I'll do a tee and shorts with a felt thingy over it. Should I ponytail her hair? (Yes, ponytail is a verb.;))
AndyJoy
When I was dating my dh, he and I dressed up as Peter Pan and Wendy. For his costume I bought an oversized green polo shirt and cut the hem and sleeves jaggedly. I also pulled off the buttons and used ribbon to lace the opening. He wore sweatpants underneath as there was no way he was going to wear tights.:D I made a simple hat out of felt with a feather and made covers for his tennis shoes out of felt. katilac
I second the green felt; it's very easy to work with and has more of an authentic look than altering modern clothes. Perhaps I should say, more of a faux-authentic look (what we imagine RH would have looked like, as opposed to historical accuracy, *g*). Starr
If she went as Wendy she could just wear her nightgown. Okay, back to Peter. Have fun and show us a picture!
