Mom-ninja.
I'd like to get my boys a bow and arrow set each as gifts. Anyone have a set you really like and recommend or a set you don't?
dripdripsplat
:bigear: Me too, me too! Any suggestions?
praisefor3
Well, it depends on how serious you are and if you want compound or recurve. But I would strongly recommend a Diamond Razor if your boys are going to learn to hunt. This will last them, all the way into adulthood. If you are looking for more of a toy set...then I don't have any experience there.

helena
If you don't have any luck, you can always make them out of PVC. If you google it, you'll find instructions. We have them, and their fun! Hmm.. my suggestion seems a little goofy now. :) This one could work for your youngest if he feels left out. Sparkle
Genesis bows are very popular with my 4-H's archery project. They are adjustable so they can be used by more than one child or as a child develops.
Unicorn.
Academy has a set for $12.99. You will need to get extra arrows, as they will lose them quickly. They are about $1.50. They are well made, and perfect for learning, and playing w/ at home.
Spy Car
I'd like to get my boys a bow and arrow set each as gifts. Anyone have a set you really like and recommend or a set you don't? And here you thought you were asking an innocuous question, not realizing you were going to set off a "war" between those who think "pulleys" have a place on a "bow" and those who know otherwise :D Bill (traditionalist :tongue_smilie:)
Kate CA
I'd like to get my boys a bow and arrow set each as gifts. Anyone have a set you really like and recommend or a set you don't? We purchased a bow from these folks: http://www.woodbows.com/ We bought it off Amazon and got free shipping and my dd13 is very happy with it. Arrows we buy from a local sporting goods/bow shop. They are real bows though and not play things. If you are looking for that I would suggest http://www.hearthsong.com/Young-Archers-Set_p28.html or this: http://www.backtobasicstoys.com/item/productid/8050/txt/Child-Safe_Archery_Set HTH! stephanier.1765
My son has asked for both a bow and arrow and a bb gun. We are seriously going to have a "shoot your eye out" kind of Christmas.

Mama Geek
According to DH if it is going to be for hunting they need to be fitted to the person by someone who knows what they are doing. He isn't up on brands or anything though.
