Hoggirl
A friend and I were discussing small things that our children (or we, for that matter) can do that pay back big returns. Here are two we discussed. Do you have other ideas/suggestions? 1) Saying "Yes, ma'am," and "Yes, sir" 2) neatness (handwriting) in work Edited July 1, 2010 by Hoggirl proofing your work would be one of these, too! Mabeline
-Making eye contact when speaking to another person or being spoken to. -Know how to introduce yourself. (so as not to feel akward when walking into a room.)

Ali in OR
Answering people when they ask you a question. Not jumping on other people's furniture. (Obviously still working on basic civilization skills here).

LauraGB
Waiting your turn to speak (not interrupting). Forming a clear thought and sentence in your head and making sure it is not insulting or inappropriate before opening your mouth to speak. (Wish someone had taken the time to teach me this one at an early age! It would have saved me a lot of guilt.) Listening carefully to the other person to actually "hear" where they are coming from. ChristusG
Honesty....even on the small things. For example, if the waitress at a restaurant fails to charge us for an item, we always let her know. Most seem surprised we did and are very thankful.
MaMa2005
Manners, manners, manners! We are blessed that DS has wonderful manners. He opens doors for ladies, rushes to help those in need, says yes/no ma'am/sir, please, thank you, etc. We are complimented daily on his use of good manners. We know that the use of manners will pay big dividends later in life.
