Hunter's Moon
I am starting homeschooling next year and I took World History in 9th and American History this year. In public school, I would be taking American History 2 but do I have to take that? Would colleges look down on me for it? I want to take Ancient History or World History 2 next year instead. Hi, If your World History in 9th grade included Ancient History, then I would do World History 2.
Orthodox6
Standard "public sequence" for high school is: world geography world history American history civics/economics Our eldest ds followed that sequence before entering college. Our second ds' list deviated notably. Of the "standard four", he took only two. His remaining five history courses on the transcript all were topical independent studies. Ds#3, in an outside school, is receiving same as our DS#1. Apparently, flexibility is allowed ! Edited April 19, 2010 by Orthodox6

In NY it is: World Civilizatons I (including geography) World Civilizatons II (including geography) American History plus 1/2 unit each of Government and Economics

If you ignore my loose use of the word "sequence", however, you will see that the course content is identical. :)
Pat in MI
Yep, Michigan requirements are: World History and Geography (1 credit) American History and Geography (1 credit) Government/Economics (1 credit) I always thought this was standard. :001_huh: It was the same when I graduated way back when. Blessings, Pat
TravelingChris
There is no one standard. There are at least 51 standards and many states may leave it up to individual school districts.
Kareni
I would look to see what any colleges you are looking at require. If they do not state particular history requirements, I would follow your own interests. Regards, Kareni
HollyDay
In our state, we need 1 American, 1 World, 1 government/econ. It is highly recommended to have 1 geography. 4 credits are required.
