mama25angels
The curriculum i'm looking at is not expensive at all, I just don't know if I should buy it to only use a part of it.
Homeschooling6
Yes, my son is currently using Character Quality Language Arts. He is not using the spelling, editing or taking the test at the end of the week:001_huh:. You can read about how we use it here.
birchbark
I bought HoD's Bigger Hearts for His Glory mainly for history, and am also using the poetry, music, storytime, and dictations. I am not using the science, Bible, math or LA, or DITHOR. It is working just fine and I feel that I am getting my money's worth.

ondreeuh
We use CLE just for the grammar, and Sonlight just for the history schedule. I'm making my own history program for next year because I can't justify the $$$$ when I only use a fraction of the program.
Homeschooling6
Thank you ladies for your responses and homeschooling6, I love reading your blog. Thanks! I enjoy blogging. It's my memory journal for the kiddos. I use to scrapbook but don't have time anymore :)
AngieW in Texas
I've always bought Sonlight knowing that I wasn't going to use any of the religious stuff. Of course, I also bought piecemeal, so I didn't have to buy the religious books, but they were still on the schedule.
FloridaLisa
Ayup. I've bought and used several years of Shurley (expensive stuff) but have never used it for writing. BUT, I do get to use it for 7 kids. :001_smile: Lisa
Tree House Academy
I am doing that with HOD this year. It wasn't the original plan...but it ended up that way.
homeschooltoone
I bought Daily Gram just for the capitalization and punctuation part. Now we do a page a day. My son loves it. I used A Beka Grammar just for their grammar not their writing. We don't use Sonlight Bible.
campmom
Over the years I have done this many times and will probably always do it because I almost always like some things about some programs but not everything about it. That is the beauty of homeschooling and choosing your on curriculum.:)
EKS
Yes--I've done this with K12 language arts. I'm only using the literature piece with my 13yo.
wy_kid_wrangler04
I have and I do! Personally I find it VERY worth it! Just weigh the usage from the cost, if its worth it do it!:) (you should see my school bookshelves:ohmy:)
