Renthead Mommy
If you've only had 3 lessons so far, do we need to get a gift for the piano teacher? Next year I'd get him one for sure, but this year, it just sort of feels a little 'too soon in the relationship'. You know like in that commerical where the guys says "happy one month aniversary' and the girl says "I didn't know we were there yet". So? Yea or Nay? MotherMayI
:bigear: I'm in the same situation and I look forward to hearing what others have to say. I am leaning toward a small gift...but what?
Erica in OR
If it were me, I'd go no gift for Christmas, but then give a gift at the end of the school year. Perhaps a card handmade by the student for Christmas? Erica in OR
Tammyla
Ornaments are nice with a card. You might find one in the shape of a piano or other instrument. Our piano teacher LOVED a big batch of home-made piano shaped cookies. She always loved fresh baked goodies and breads.
katilac
Nope, wouldn't do it. It would be nice if dd make a Christmas card for her, but that's as far as I would go.

ncmomo3
I agree with end of the lesson-year gift in this case, unless you can't overcome Christmas gift guilt (that I tend to suffer from).;)
ELaurie
or provide a small plate of home made goodies. Or do nothing. I think any of the above would be fine. I probably would not purchase a gift at this stage.
alpidarkomama
The best gifts I've EVER received from any of my piano students are little cards they wrote themselves saying what they enjoyed about piano lessons. I've saved every one of those over the years, and get a big grin on my face any time I look at them. :)
kamom
I'm planning on giving her a plate of homemade goodies,. Thanks for the idea of having my dc make cards to go with them.
