runninmommy
She has had such a difficult year and I would really love to send her something unique, special, and sweet. She is in Washington and I am in the south, so I can't just go over and give her a hug. What is your best kept secret online? That special site that you go to just to spoil someone? I like Anthropologie but I bought her something from there for her birthday. I would like something along those lines..I just don't know what. Ideas?? Tap
I sent my MIL some Mighty Leaf Tea recently and she really enjoyed it. I love MLT and like to share it with everyone I know :0) I also sent her a generously sized porcelain tea cup to go with it. I got the tea mug at TJ Maxx (I have seen some pretty ones in nice boxes at HomeGoods recently too). It had a nice saucer (that could hold a biscuit or two also, and some pretty napkins to go with it.
OnTheBrink
Ok, if I wanted something that would totally cheer me up, I'd LOVE anything from Philosophy's Amazing Grace line of "stink purty" stuff. It's not cheap, but it's wonderful. I treated myself to a LOT of it last year when I was down about being divorced, etc. It sure made ME feel better! http://www.philosophy.com/web/store/cat_fragrance-amazing____24030_30502

MommyRyan
The best gift I've ever received was a subscription to a monthly wine club. Not sure if your friend would enjoy this, but getting the package brightened my day every month.:) I have also always really enjoyed getting "lessons": I have received lessons in knitting, cooking, baking, and tae-kwon-do (funny if you know me) for gifts. Really awesome. Hope this helps!
Chris in VA
I love a good sugar scrub! One in oil that leaves your skin sooo nice--Bath and Body has one that I think is vanilla scented.
helena
This company has some fun stuff under gifts http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/gifts/index.html For people who like to cook, I buy from here. You could put in a subscription to Cook's Illustrated. http://www.surlatable.com/ http://www.cooksillustrated.com/ If she's into beauty products this company is awesome, they even have sample bottles of the oils you can buy. Onyx is great! http://www.sagejewelry.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=S&Category_Code=frag Cold weather is coming, maybe a cozy theme is good. It would be so much fun to open a big box to find a luxurious blanket, a great movie, a better book, some tea, a candle....
4kids4me
I just bought some wonderful smelling hand lotion from Victoria's Secret. Oh man, is it good. http://www2.victoriassecret.com/collection/?cgname=OSBAFNUPZZZ&cgnbr=OSBAFNUPZZZ&rfnbr=6117 My favourite and a best-seller is Love Spell, followed by Pure Seduction and Vanilla Lace. I also bought dd Berry Kiss and it is delicious. Try! ;)
Guest queenant
If I want a really special gift I'll make a basket full of little goodies. You could add things that she would like. You can also add little bits of what everyone suggested (depends on your budget). They all had great ones!

BikeBookBread
That looks nice. What does that fragrance smell like? Someone needs to invent smell-o-vision. I wear Philosophy fragrances. If she has had a hard year, I would recommend "Baby Grace". It DOES NOT SMELL LIKE A BABY. It is a gently sweet "clean" smell. It is wonderful. I also love the Pure Grace - very clean and fresh smelling. Amazing Grace smells nice, and is the most flowery of the Graces. I was going to suggest http://www.philosophy.com myself. The "foodie" fragrances are amazing, too. A nice combo would be a salt scrub, body wash and lotion set. Not cheap, but WONDERFUL. Also: http://www.redenvelope.com - very unique gifts http://www.garnethill.com - have a few gifty things

Ironically enough, she also lives in Washington. Her family is here, though, and she was having a rough time. Word has it she cried when she got the box of love. kindermommy
That looks nice. What does that fragrance smell like? Someone needs to invent smell-o-vision. Another Philosopy fan here! Loooove their stuff. My fave fragrance is Falling in Love (lotion is the best, but perfume good too). You can catch me sniffing my arm all day when I wear that one :):tongue_smilie:

txbloobonnet
I've recently bought myself two gifts I love. I got a silver stamped necklace and a picture of our last name using photography images for the letters. Both of these are by people who sell online. I think the jewelry would be really sweet. Do you know what I am talking about? This is where I ordered mine but there are a lot of gals making jewelry like this: http://www.hersoutherncharm.com/
Anne in CA
I would get her something special from Etsy. That hand made touch is great!
