jengjohnson
I'd like to find plain brown paper grocery bags for a preschool craft at our co-op. All the stores I shop at have their advertising all over the bag. Does anyone know of a place I can get (or even purchase) plain bags? Thanks! KidsHappen
I just use the inside of the bag. Also makes great postal packaging. I ask for paper about half of the time, then I have packaging paper and wastebasket liners.
jengjohnson
Do you think I can just turn them inside-out? I'll be using them to make a "vest." Cutting out arm and neck holes and cutting up one side. I don't have any here right now to experiment with.
adams101
I think Sam's sells them, but I'm sure it is a large package. We used to buy them from a restraunt supply when I taught preschool. They would sell them to us by the piece.

You could call a couple of preschools or your local school/teacher supply store to see if they can point you in the right direction. My local teacher supply store actually uses plain brown bags to bag up larger purchases.
cjzimmer1
I buy them for my mom's greenhouse there all the time, but I think the big ones come in a pack of 500 so there it probably more than you need.
Chris in VA
Yes, you can turn them inside out. You can also just ask at the local grocery store for however many you need (keep it around 20 or less, if you can) and most likely, they will donate. I've never had a problem as a preschool teacher asking.
Tap
If you don't want to buy a bunch, you can try smaller ethnic or similar non-chain restaurants or grocers. They will often just use a plain bag instead of ordering the printing like the chains do. A smaller store may request that you buy them from them or ask several stores to each donate 5, so it isn't a burden on any one store. Inside out usually works fine. I have cut or ripped the bag where it was glued and reglued the seams for projects that needed the bag intact.
Melissa in St Louis
I've done the vests...cut them as you would normally, and then turn them inside out. Works fine! :)
OnTheBrink
Does it have to be an actual bag or do you just need the brown paper? If so, you can buy plain brown paper by the roll at most places that sell shipping materials.
