What veggies and fruits are in your house?

Recommended Posts

We have the following on hand currently:

Fruits

Apples (Braeburns, Fuji, or Galas usually. This week it's Braeburns)

Pears

Bananas

Blackberries (frozen from fresh picked)

Blueberries (frozen from fresh picked)

Pineapple (fresh)

Canned peaches

100% fruit juice

Dried papaya

Nuts, raisins and coconut

Vegetables

Broccoli

Lettuce (Romaine and Iceberg)

Onions

Garlic

Red Peppers

Mushrooms

Potatoes

Carrots

Sweet Potatoes

Yams

Green Beans (frozen)

Peas (frozen)

Tomatoes (canned)

We usually have more on hand, but its close to pay day and soon will be time for grocery shopping again. I like to shop for produce 3-4 times per month, plus we buy locally whenever possible and grow some of our own in the summer.

Our primary food is meat (chicken, turkey, pork, beef and fish), followed closely by fruits and vegetables. We add in a bit of grains, olive oil and butter and some dairy on the side. (I am currently wheat free too.)

Blessings,

Lucinda

onions

tomato

cilantro

Frozen:

corn

broccoli

berries (for smoothies)

I need to go grocery shopping soon, so we don't have a lot of veggies right now. Because we have rabbits, we always have some fresh stuff for them, plus whatever we eat.

Well, we go to the grocery store just about every other day, so we don't keep a lot.

Right now, we have:

spinach (leftover from last night's dinner - Italian spinach made from frozen)

1/2 head of green leaf lettuce

1 bag of baby carrots

1 bell pepper

1 cucumber

green onions

a few strawberries left from a 1 lb. box

about 1/4 lb. of grapes left from 1 lb.

8 bananas

frozen - a lot, I don't feel like counting it (sorry!) I know there's a bag of broccoli in there.

I need to go to the grocery store, unless we're going to have carrots & bananas for dinner!

I am by no means the healthy police. I have been known to (cough cough) drive through. I will actually on occasion feed my children from the horrid "Blue Box of Death". I mix in peas first--that makes it healthy, right?

That made me laugh since last night my dh fed my kids mac and cheese...but he thought a great idea would be to chop up salad and put it in there to get them to eat veggies. The 4 yr old was not impressed. But apparently he did eat a small bowl since Dad told him he wasn't getting anything else. He then was allowed to choose what he wanted and chose leftover white rice. :o

I'm pretty impressed with the fruits and veggies everyone has. Here we have:

Fresh: Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Grapes, Strawberries, Pineapple, Spinach, Carrots, Cucmber, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Mixed Salad Greens, Onions (Red and Yellow), Red Peppers, Green Peppers, Jalapeno Peppers

Dried: Blueberries, Mango, Cranberries, Raisins

Frozen: Corn, Peas, Blueberries
