  1. LOL! I always wonder where in the world they get those huge numbers from. My other pet peeve is when they list a book for 1 cent. They make NO profit and force me to donate my similar books.
  2. I'm on Bookmooch, too. I have lots of points there. I keep using my Paperbackswap points for DVDs! My Bookmooch ID: http://bookmooch.com/roxannevt I chose "send to own country" but I actually WILL send to Canada. Just not to the other side of the world!
  3. I would not have counted things that we would have done/bought even if my child were NOT homeschooled. OTOH, if you use a box curriculum, they are pricey. Comparing it to what the parochial school cost is a good idea. It shows you can provide an excellent education for a lot less!
  4. My son will be in 4th grade next year and we've been going through the SOTW series. It occured to today that I have no idea where to put "state history" in the WTM suggested history cycle! In public school I was taught it in 4th grade. Should I just do it as a separate subject unrelated to anything?
  5. We've been thinking about chickens, too. I like the idea of the fresh eggs. We would definitely NOT get a rooster. My biggest concern is the winter. Do I have to move them into my spare bedroom? OK, maybe not that extreme LOL!
  6. Any purse I buy has to pass two tests: 1) Not too big, not too small 2) Plenty o' pockets!
  7. Does anyone have experience (and opinions) regarding this book: Learning Grammar Through Writing When I did a search of this forum, all I got back was the individual words of "grammar," "learning," etc. Thanks! Roxanne
  8. A huge vice for me. I just finished one a few minutes ago. It doesn't matter that I'm in New England and it's currently 40 degrees out. I LOVE iced coffee!
  9. <sigh> I miss Sonic. There is not ONE Sonic in our entire state--and not even across the borders in any direction. I feel deprived.
  10. For us, Lively Latin has been fantastic! I looked at four other programs and they all scared me. Lively Latin is VERY interesting along with being very user friendly.
  11. For me (4th year of homeschooling), my favorites have been Lively Latin, Easy Grammar, and Story of the World. ALL awesome!
  12. Thanks. I didn't know what "RC" meant, but you obviously did. I was "tailgating" your little car guy to see what you found out LOL!
  13. THANK YOU! I thought that I was the only one who felt this way about those books. I hated that I was missing out on the love, but I couldn't get past all the jumble of images. (What a relief!)
  14. Which pronunciation is used for those who go into scientific and law fields? Which pronunciation was used by the Renaissance "greats" and more modern "others" (Like Jefferson) when they were reading and quoting? Thanks!
