  1. Yes, there would have been horrible personal consequences if these lies were allowed to stand.
  2. And also the intended snooper isn't the snooper who actually found it. And read it. Interesting we have almost 100% agreement on this. We should celebrate.
  3. I just wish overall that the value of people wasn't determined by their occupation. Not everyone gets their fulfillment from their job either. Some people choose low stress jobs (which often pay very little) in order to maintain mental and emotional health or for a flexible schedule that allows them to care for children or parents or even a spouse.
  4. An innocent third party.
  5. If someone writes a journal full of lies (much of which could damage another person's reputation badly) with the purpose of catching someone snooping through the journals, who has done more 'wrong'. The journal writer of lies or the snooper. The age of the journal writer is young legal adult.
  6. Eh, you people should live in my shoes. Politically neutral in these times. Good times I tell ya.
  7. I would suggest that your NYC experience has nothing to do with the realties of rural America. My son is highly privileged in that he has a newer paid for Prius, with the insurance paid for by his dad, tuition paid for by his dad, and free room and board paid for by myself and my dh. Plus he gets an allowance from his dad to buy gas and other expenses. It isn’t the normal experience.
  8. I did a crying emoji but I also want to say I am sorry. It makes me ill knowing stories like this. And for someone, who shall go unnamed, to so glibly say, ‘they need to help themselves’. Ugh, it makes me want to scream.
  9. I keep checking for an update. I don’t know when her Sabbath ends.
  10. This not true. I live in an area where the closest CC is an hour away. Do you believe that makes it accessible?
  11. I addressed your rudeness. And I disagree with your position that all anyone needs to do is help themselves solve their problems. Working at 76 because you have to is far different from full lives of volunteering. I can’t think of a single person in my very large group of friends and acquaintances who is working in their 70s. So it isn’t reality in my world. And if it is a reality in your world I am sad for older people in such dire financial straits they have to work.
  12. This is such a condescending and rude post. Just wow. Carries mom IS helping herself. Did you see the part where she is still working at age 66 and all the other struggles that SHE did not cause and has no control over. She is 66 years old.....do you really think this is the time to be switching jobs in order to get better medical? And your poor MIL...I hope she has other people in her life to give her care and concern. It can’t be easy to still be working at age 76 and then to be let go because she ‘wouldn’t’ transition. Good grief.
  13. I seem to be the only one who would pretty much insist on continuing to homeschool. Especially since you have found a new Co-op. I think she just has her heart set on that far away private school, but I don't think the cost of time and money would be worth it and if she won't be happy at the closer private then she is back to making homeschool work. She doesn't understand how rapidly her life is going to change in the next 2 years. She will be old enough to DE and drive and that makes friendships evolve in ways she can't predict.
  14. IMO, which is clearly fairly uneducated about economics.....the system of capitalism works against everyone having a living wage. The goal from about age 3 is to beat out everyone and come out on top.
  15. The seller being the builder? So the builder gets 3% of his builds in addition the build profit? Or are you saying he is hiring a RE to sell his new builds? And what would happen to the commission rate if you, the buyer, didn't get a RE agent? Would the seller's agent get all 6% or would you save the 3%? Also the commission rate IS legally required to be negotiable. But agents just won't come down. Thus the entire issue that the lawsuit is addressing. It is price fixing by long established practices that box people in and give them no choice. Although I do wonder if people KNEW they could negotiate the commission rate might things change.
  16. So how much do you have to pay her? 3%? Did you attempt to negotiate that price at all? Not criticizing you just curious how these things work.
  17. And see my feeling is an open house is just to get exposure. 'Must see inside' type deal. But I don't think buying and selling houses is all that complicated.
  18. This is what I want to see. Can I ask why you thought you needed a realtor to negotiate the price on a new build?
  19. Some people feel like they need the hel-- true. But the issue is more how the market and the commission rates are controlled by the MLS and National Association of realtors. Anti-trust issue.
  20. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/15/economy/real-estate-commissions/index.html Have we discussed this lawsuit yet? Well, there are 3 I think, going on, but one is really really big. Maybe things are going to change in the RE business.
  21. I would insist on homeschooling her. If you use an online public school they have a lot of opportunities for enrichment and social activities. You could join their Facebook group right now and look through to see what sort of things they have been doing. Naturally she feels like her world is ending since her social group is split up. But that happens all through life. I wouldn't make major, life and income altering decisions based on that. And I certainly would not give up SAHM to fund a private school in this situation. You not being home will really impact your family life--more than you probably think. I think you might have to work to find her things to do....and one thing is she could look for some sort of work that would help keep her busy part of the time. My son was fairly bored for his freshman and sophmore years. Then he started DE and working his junior year and he has been busy and happy since then.
  22. As to skilled and unskilled....sometime a person starts a job unskilled and becomes skilled. And when hiring you often hire for the education or experience a person has. Or both. And when they have neither that is another entry level. One would think that young people could be hired on as unskilled for many jobs and work their way up to skilled. I am always sad when I see a 50 year old woman delivering food to my car at Sonic. And most people can't keep doing physical jobs like housekeeping forever. Heck I am only 54 and I can tell it is MUCH more difficult to clean my house now than it used to be. So individuals should think that through and have a long term plan as to how they can keep supporting themselves as they age.
  23. It turns my stomach honestly. Sure every person has a story and some are in poverty from poor management of resources and or addiction or mental illness....but there are plenty more who are doing the very best they can and still don't have a living standard of dignity. Disparity of income and living standards has bothered me since I was a very little girl. Like 7. I asked my mom if all the food in the world was divided by all the people would everyone have enough to eat. I still often think of that same concept.
