  5. I eat Whole30ish long term and the things I give in on (unfortunately on too regular a basis...) - cheese on my burgers, potato chips (while technically compliant these are complete no brakes food for me) and alcohol. And I agree with the Whole90 suggestion. I did my best when I was strict for 90 days.
  6. Good morning! It's Friday! DH comes home from his business trip tonight and today is DS18's last day of school. Hurray. -coffee -workout (lower body weights) -laundry DONE: 0 -read (my goal is to read 200 pages today) -clean up kitchen -straighten up living spaces a bit (ok, a lot) -dinner (Italian pork chops)

  8. Become familiar with Tessemae's dressings and mayo. You can get some things at WholeFoods (I have even seen some dressings at Target or Publix) or through their website. Kalua Pork from NomNomPaleo. Make it over the weekend, lunch for the week. Whole30 recipes (the official site) instagram - tons of great recipes there, all truly Whole30 (some sites and IG accounts have recipes that claim to be Whole30 but clearly are not) If you google Whole30 and freezer meals there is a site (can't remember what it is called) with at least 100 meals that can be prepped ahead. Prepping ahead is key. Good luck! In our family, three of us have done Whole30 (I have almost completely cut out grains, dairy and sugar; DS14 is about 80 percent; DH tries but work travel gets in the way) and we all feel, look, and sleep better when we do.
  9. Just finished my workout and did 2 loads of laundry. Considering it is 3:30, this is hardly impressive. Off to marinate the chicken for dinner tonight, then into the shower. I sweated out all the excess alcohol I consumed at the concert last night. Cannot party like a rockstar at 48.
  10. I wish I knew. Here, it is an entire collection of 1978-1983 baseball cards. That sat in his parents damp basement until 1998 (when we bought our first home and they made him take it). That and an entire box of stratomatic baseball, which was apparently some fantasy baseball thing from the early 80s done entirely on paper. We have a whole bankers box full of that. Thousands of pages of decades old baseball stats. We have lived in 5 houses since 1998 and those moldy cards and completely useless baseball stat nonsense have made every single trip with us. Interestingly, I have never seen DH look in either box except when we move. He also has a large moving box (from our last move 2 months ago) full of baseball hats. Major league, minor leauge, college, throwback, and every single hat from each little league team he coached. He has coached little leage for 20 of the last 25 years..... He has some grandiose idea of putting up hooks and "displaying" them. He saw it in someone's garage one time - a full wall, floor to ceiling, of baseball hats...Not on my watch. Whew, that felt good to get out.
  11. Good morning! Had a great day at the amusement park with DH and DS14, and then DH and I decided to go see Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul in concert last night. It was a great show. Now back to reality. DS18 is in the midst of finals (he is a horrible test taker so this week is so stressful), DH is leaving this afternoon for a business trip, and DS14 is enjoying his first week of summer vacation. -drop DH off at his office -coffee -wait for garage door repair company to fix broken spring on door (can't open big garage door, luckily we can open smaller door and my car was already out when it happened) -wait for annual termite inspection -workout (cardio) -clean kitchen -laundry DONE: 2 -start new book -library to return books -dinner (no idea but I think I have chicken that has to be cooked tonight)
  12. Safe travels, Lisa! Hope everyone has a great day! DS18 starts finals today, and DH and I are taking DS14 to Carowinds (amusement park about 90 minutes away). I do not ride rides, so I get to be the pack mule holding glasses, phones, hats, etc. LOL. See you all tomorrow!
  13. "Sock Lonely Hearts Mosh Pit...." Jean, you crack me up!! 🤣
  14. A few houses ago, and at the height of crazy prices in an incredibly hot Northern VA market.... Our buyers had a letter from Chase bank saying that they were approved to buy our house regardless of whether or not they sold their current home. So closing comes around and we were not there (common practice in the area for only your realtor to go to closing if you were the seller). Our realtor turns the keys over to the closing agent and leaves to go to another closing. Well something happened to the buyer's buyer's closing and they didn't close on the sale of their house. Chase refused to honor the loan without our buyers home selling. But they already, for reasons never explained to us, had been given our keys. And they moved in. Oh you should have heard me lose my **** when the realtor called to tell us (on closing day Thursday) that gee, sorry, closing will now have to be Monday but your buyers are in the process of moving in. She messed up big time turning the keys over before the sale was actually funded. And of course we were buying a home the following day and needed the $100k profit we were getting in order to put money down on the new house. Luckily my parents were able to loan us $100k so we could actually close on our new home. But for 5 days all that I could think of was how big a jerk the buyers had to be to move into a house they didn't pay for. Would they trash it? What guarantee did we have that we would actually close Monday? I was so stressed out about being able to pay my parents back on time. We learned our lesson - always add a few days buffer between houses in case something like this ever happened again. Another horror story (again in Northern VA). Our realtor did an open house at our home and a woman who came through claimed (no one saw or heard a thing) that she tripped on a 6" step from our living room to the deck. Within 24 hours we had a letter from an attorney explaining how we owed her some ridiculous 6 figure amount because the fall aggrevated her carpal tunnel syndrome and she would be unable to work for a year. We freaked out. Our realtor (who ran the open house) pretty much said "not my problem". I had a friend who was a police officer and she was able to look up in some data base that this woman was a serial insurance scam artist. We called our homeowners insurance (USAA) and they told us not to worry. They took care of the entire thing and we never heard another word about it and our rates never went up.
  15. 16. Good morning! Can't wait to start the three day weekend! I'm feeling a little - I don't know - nostalgic? old, maybe? DS14 "graduates" from middle school today and DS18 has a "rising senior" lunch at school today. So I feel like I've entered this new stage where both my kids are in high school. And DS18's first three years have flown by and I'm feeling like life is just changing too fast. Or something. Or hormones. -coffee -DS18 off to school -school with DS14 - need to edit his ancient lit paper, and then take his Algebra II final and then he is done with middle school -read -workout (lower body weights pyramid) -read some more -out to dinner to restaurant of DS14's choosing
  17. Happy Birthday, Selkie!! I hope you enjoy your day! Amy, I hope that you feel better soon - both of my kids have had similar in the past 10 days - it lasts about 48 hours. I have been a complete loungeabout today. I spent a few hours reading in bed while DS14 worked on his ancient lit paper, and then took him to the pool for about an hour. Still to do today: -clean up the kitchen (it looks like a bomb has gone off in there) -maybe go grocery shopping (really not feeling like it) nope DS18 went for me -laundry -finishing my book -dinner (spaghetti and meatballs that I already made and froze a few weeks ago)
  18. Have made the huge error of doing a Pinterest search of "baseball banquet ideas" THE DAY OF the actual banquet.......🤣
  19. Good morning! I'm responsible for providing snack/light lunch for DS18's homeroom today and we have our baseball banquet tonight. It was already hot and humid when I let the dog out this morning. Yuck. -coffee -DS18 off to school -workout (upper body pyramid) -pick up Chick Fil A catering order and deliver to DS18's homeroom at 10:30 -stop by store to pick up baseballs on way home -school with DS14 (he is down to 2 lessons and a final in math, and 1 paper) -pick up cupcakes from bakery and ice from grocery store at 3 -cut magnolia blooms for tables per mom in charge (not sure how this is going to work, may just pick up flowers from florist) -leave for banquet around 5 to help set up (not forgetting centerpieces, cupcakes, and cooler full of ice....) -read
  20. Sounds like fun!! I am going on a girls weekend trip to Nashville in July with 5 high school friends. Will have to look into this....
  21. Did my workout. Have been sitting around waiting for DS14 to finish his essay exam questions for his history test. He is done with that, so only his lit paper and an Algebra II exam and we are done with the year.
  22. Good morning! Gonna be another hot and humid day here. -coffee -DS18 off to school -school with DS14 (math and 2 of his 3 papers left to write) -workout (HiiT cardio) -laundry -library -talk to exterminator about yearly terminte inspection -remind DS18 he has to get his teacher rec forms from guidance office because i am sick of getting nasty-gram daily from guidance office... -see if DS14 wants to go to neighborhood pool before school lets out nope, he doesn't -dinner (salmon)
  23. I'm finding that once I work out I feel I am done for the day and nothing else gets done. Must change this.
