  1. Here is the link. It will NOT be available on the website or in the catalog and they must receive you order by July 1.
  2. Here's a link for the order form. It will NOT be for sale on the website or in the catalog and you MUST order by July 1.
  3. It would probably work okay, but the student really needs to take the placement test that is available on TT's website. I don't think Art Reed is really the person to ask. He's going to (strongly) suggest you stay with Saxon.
  4. My dh has it too, and no, I've never noticed a smell. I agree that plenty of rest is the biggest thing he can do to keep it under control. Do make sure you read up on it. It does also cause an inability to metabolize some drugs which can lead to toxicity.
  5. I don't like it either. I searched for "God's Design" science at it couldn't find it. I retyped it "Gods Design" and it found it along with a bunch of other things that do NOT have "God" or "Design" in the title. It looks like it searches the entire description so if you want to search for the author "Lawrence" you will also get the book "Lawrence of Arabia". I suppose I'll get used to it. I still like CBD's samples better too, but RR does have awesome descriptions of the products.
  6. I'm loving IEW. This is the first program I've found that teaches me how to teach writing, and it's the first writing program I've used that I actually look forward to using again next year. I only wish I'd have tried it sooner.
  7. Thank you! I've been homeschooling for 18 years, and I know I'm doing the right thing, but today is one of those days.......
  8. Ds is 6th grade. One chapter a week would seem about right, but that's only 8 weeks. I guess I was under the impression that it was a full semester. I'm not sure now where I got that idea, but that's what I was thinking. So you mostly just had your ds do the book?
  9. I've just started using The Elements by Ellen McHenry and I love it, except I wish there were some lesson plan suggestions. How did you schedule it? So far we're reading some and playing the game each day, but do we keep playing the first game until it's "mastered" or do we work on multiple games/activities at a time? or do the book on Monday and the games/activities the rest of the week? I know there isn't probably a "right" or a "wrong" way to use it, but how do you do it?
  10. I don't think there is such a thing. It would be huge! The previously mentioned ideas were good, but you might also check out rainbowresource.com.
  11. :iagree: I have a front load, and I do one to two loads of each "type" of clothing each week. One load of socks with everyone's white socks in that load, one load of "grubbies" for dh and ds's work clothes, etc.

  13. Yes, we have been working on TTC off and on this semester. We are really enjoying it too! DD mentioned how some of it would fit in the story she has been working on. :)
  14. I used Hand-On Essays last year with dd. We both really enjoyed it. We are using IEW this year (TWSS with me doing lesson plans) and plan to do Elegant Essay next year. Elegant Essay, looking at the samples, goes deeper than HOE. To me, HOE was a great intro to essays, and Elegant Essay will be a great refresher plus go more in depth.
  15. DD (13) loves to write. She wrote her first novel this year for NaNoWriMo and is really enjoying 'polishing' it before she sends it in to the next part. I have really enjoyed learning to use IEW this year for younger ds, but dd just doesn't really need this much 'hand-holding'. I'd almost prefer to just let her do the TWSS with me this summer in like a one or two week boot camp, more like a workshop, kwim? I just asked her to desribe the perfect curriculum to me, and she said, "Writing essays and novels all year". I was planning to try Elegant Essay with her next year, but since she mentioned novels too, I wondered about just using How to Write a Story and/or A Guide to Writing a Novel both by Lee Roddy. What do you think? Would this work for a full year of writing? Elegant Essay is designed for one semester. Would the other book(s) work for the other semester?
  16. :grouphug: Waiting is always hard, especially when so much is at stake. We're waiting on info too, but not the same kind. I'm impatient too, if that helps any.
  17. I'm not sure what your health issues are, but dd is going to be making them gluten free. Would you be able to substitute?
  18. Would that be the French Breakfast Puffs? DD has made those and they ARE delicious!
  19. I agree that it's terribly sad, and that something very serious had to be wrong. Slightly OT, but he missed church on Sunday because of a school activity? This hits me as weird. They attended two church services each weekend, and they homeschooled. I'm missing something in this.
  20. Maybe they're first cousins, both grandchildren of Jolly Green Giant.
  21. I'll be using IEW for both my 7th grader (reluctant writer) and my 9th grader (eager writer). 9th grader will be doing Elegant Essay.
  22. We definitely take summers off from official schoolwork. We farm and raise produce. There's no time for school books in the summer. It doesn't mean they aren't learning. It just isn't textbooks.
