  1. well, I became seriously aware of how viruses can pass outdoors when I got that stomach virus from 10 minutes exposure talking to someone standing 6 feet away. It's definitely possible. A virus that I somehow did not give to my family. I know that my immune system underperforms, and I easily catch other people's bugs.

  4. We use ours everyday. In fact, I have two because I started with an extra large capacity one and then when my toaster oven when kaput, I bought a Breville Air Fryer Oven which I LOVE because I hate using my Viking ovens. They use way too much energy and take a good 45 minutes to preheat. I also have Instant Pot which is in use at least 5 days a week, sometimes more than once a day.
  5. I still can't understand why it is so difficult for people to understand that immunity can wane with a vaccination when this happens every year with the flu vaccine. I always time my flu shot no earlier than late October/early November for maximum effectiveness to coincide with peak flu season. And why people can't grasp that a virus mutates and has new strains. Again, we already know this to be true from the flu. Just venting my thoughts here.
  6. Just a side comment: My family operated a Chinese restaurant for decades. We have quite a lot of regular Jewish customers who kept kosher except when eating at our restaurant. They wouldn't eat things expressly forbidden, but obviously Chinese kitchens are not kosher.
  7. FYI. That's called halal meat. The meat shops will have often have halal in the name so you know.
  8. posting nothing here because I want to stop seeing that spam post at the top of forum feed.

  13. It was they spend time pursuing on their own without schedule time or encouragement from you. Passions can change though. Expose her to a wide array of experiences and activities especially ones that you yourself would not normally gravitate towards. Chess, golf, Latin - no interest from my husband and I for any of these. Programming - yes, that's what my husband does. - my husband can though not a passion Science - yes, which branch changes depending on who he is inspired by (I really try to select people with the love of their subject matter.) It's abundantly clear it is definitely not life sciences. Math - unclear at this point...used to be a passion and now other things have pushed it out of the way. Aptitude yes...passion - murky. ETA: I find you don't necessarily do the figuring out...they really do tell you.
  14. This is NOT what I wanted to see. Ugh. Mono did such a number on me and triggered immune system disorders that I am still dealing with decades later. I do not want reactived EB in my body at all EVER. https://www.sciencealert.com/mounting-evidence-suggests-many-covid-19-long-haulers-are-co-infected-with-epstein-barr
  15. Are the Speed Queens that everyone loves the top loaders? I notice there are front loading ones.
  16. There are people who talk about how to trick your HE machines to fill with more water. I'm sure you can find some ideas to help with that.
  17. What did she test with? I went and got a PCR test done. Those are pretty accurate and I did it when symptomatic with gastrointestinal issues.
  18. Another source for AOPS is Royal Fireworks Press. I know nothing about that teacher. Though I do know that his Algebra class covers the Intro Book, Algebra 2 appears to cover Intermediate Algebra book as it is the only text listed for that class. My son is doing AOPS Geometry at WTMA this year. We self studied with AOPS so far. They do Alg 1, Alg 2 and then Geometry before Pre-Calc. The Algebra 2 syllabus in on the website and you can see what chapters of the Intermediate Algebra book you are expected to have covered.

  22. Currently, I am down with a stomach virus. Covid was ruled with a PCR test. I am isolating away from the family because we don't need everyone to catch this. I caught it from speaking to a vax'd friend outside my house socially distanced for 10 minutes unmasked. I know this was it because when I mentioned I was sick and had vomiting, she mentioned that she caught a stomach virus and was sick the day after she came by. I hadn't had any other contact with people unmasked.
  23. I suppose this would never happen where I live. There's a curfew from 10 pm to 6 am for minors in public places. There's also a law against under 18 drivers driving around between 11 pm - 5 am as well.
  24. I haven't had my son going to in person indoor church/youth group or enrichment activities unless it is outside and masked. In the last 72 hours, I got notifications of Covid exposures for all 5 of the events he normally would be participating in. 5 for 5!
