  1. Our milk is $4.64 at Walmart - just regular ol' 2%/skim/whole. Great Value brand is cheaper though - $3.02.
  2. That is very similar to how it is done at the studio my kids went to. The belts are presented at the end of the testing - they call up all the individual who is presented with a certificate wrapped around the belt, the individual bows and shakes hands with all of the masters and black belts. They are told "Congratulations" in Korean and answer "Thank You" in Korean. Then the individual goes back to their spot and the next is called. After the group has come forward, the teachers go out to the floor and help tie the new belts on and tie the old belts up. Then there is a group picture and individual pics.
  3. I'm so done with inflation... I ordered a box of five dozen eggs from Walmart and picked it up on Saturday. It was $11.45. I started putting stuff in my Walmart cart for next week this morning as I did a lot of freezer cooking yesterday and used up a lot. I thought, "oh, put the eggs in there while you're thinking about it" - $17.02 for the same box today! And gas went up 40 cents this week - $4.09 last week, $4.49 yesterday.

  6. I have one graduated. She's fine with having homeschooled; she would've hated the social aspects of B&M, and she knows that. She graduated in 2020, and dealt with all the disruptions in college - she's home for the year figuring out life. She didn't do as well in her 4 year school as she wanted, but I doubt it would've been better if she went to B&M. My next oldest is a junior in high school; she hates homeschool (and tells everyone she hates it!) and has since about 6th grade. However, she has mental and physical health challenges that would make B&M very difficult. My youngest likes homeschool, and she's a sophomore in high school this year. She's definitely getting the short end of the stick from me since I had to return to work when she started high school. I feel like I'm failing her since it's a lot of just leaving her with a textbook and notes, and I have to deal with her older sister who "needs" me to be on her more. Who knows what she'll think in a few years?
  7. (((heart))), happy belated birthday. I am sorry your birthday dinner didn't go well. I hope you get some fun birthday time this week (window shopping or crafting or decorating or whatever floats your boat) - make it a birthday month!

  11. Misty Jaye. It was my mom's choice, but my dad didn't like it - said it sounded like a horse name. They didn't have a boy's name, and weirdly they didn't have a girls' name for my brother either.

  14. Cashed in my Walmart card reward points in preparation for Christmas shopping - I also have a lot of Amazon gift cards from Swagbucks/Crowdtap. Starting to get a list/budget together.
  15. Yeah, I got that yesterday as well. Very, very annoying. The weirdest? They substituted a different brand and threw in 1 more (I had ordered 2 and they substituted with 3 pricier options), which jumped the price even more. DH didn't notice the difference and just accepted everything.

  17. I grew up in the Midwest US - we never had math facts out loud (we did have written timed tests in 4th grade, but the results for everyone but the kids who completed the entire page, which was the goal, were private). We had 1 spelling bee in 6th grade; other than that, it was a weekly spelling test (written not out loud). I never did a science fair in my entire school career. I only recall jeopardy a couple of times, and I'll be honest that I don't recall how teams were chosen. I do remember the 7th grade teacher who threw candy bars at the kids who could answer his questions.

  19. Can you squish a twin next to the King - like a pop-up trundle or something?
  20. Oldest starts her new job next Monday. We're going to see what her paycheck comes out to be and make a budget/plan for her. She wants to get her license/buy a car, save up for an apartment, and start looking at/saving for a service dog (she has a bad knee that gives her some balance issues). Youngest two will want to do some cosplay for Halloween - don't know if they'll snag some younger kids and go trick or treating. Not much happening (I hope!) in October. Will start planning for Christmas and next year's school budget.

  23. My 15 yo has gotten her driver's permit. The problem is she is only 4'8" tall. That is most likely close to her full height. We've bought a cushion (booster) and it works for her to see over the steering wheel while still reaching the pedals. We have a visor extender on the list of future purchases. Anything else that may help her?
