  2. I have a visit with a new doctor to become a patient coming up. When I say coming up, it's at the end of January. That's the quickest I can get in. This is in an area that has 3 large medical groups in the city. I had the same doctor from ages 15-40. Then he retired, since then, about 8 years, I have had 4 doctors, and I haven't had any PCP since 2018 (I saw her once and she left for a different city in 2019).
  3. DH still has a little (less than $10K), so hoping his falls under this because it will just go away, I guess. He didn't get or take the pause (don't know which), so we've been paying on them. We paid mine off a couple of years ago since they had a much higher rate than DH's. DD received a pell grant, but we busted our behinds to keep her from taking out loans. I kinda feel like it would've ended up better if we'd taken them now, but we couldn't have known the future. Sorry about your bad day. Leaky dishwashers are so not cool. Hope your health stuff clears quickly and your dog feels better.

  7. Oh, I forgot to say I got some $$ for my birthday and I splurged on a robot vacuum. He's awesome - I tell my kids that he's my favorite child now because he cleans LOL. Seriously, though, he is awesome. Surprisingly, middle DD is the one who is using him most because she loves to drive him.
  8. Middle DD just started her junior year. She wants to go into nursing, so she's actually pretty easy to "shop for a college" for. She wants a small college/direct admit to nursing. Today was CTCL' fair (Colleges that Change Lives). Youngest is a sophomore and has NO idea what she wants to do. She doesn't even know if she wants to go to college, but she doesn't know what else she wants to do. She may just start at the community college here. Oldest is taking the year off to decide if she wants to return and to heal up her knee (surgery this summer) and apparently her shoulder now too!
  9. Went to a college fair with Middle today. 3 more colleges went on her list. Cost: only a meal from Culver's (and college tuition hahaha). Urgent care trip for oldest this morning. She swore her shoulder was out of socket. Turns out it was not, but they think there is a hairline fracture in it. Needs an MRI. Well, that'll bring us to max out of pocket for the family in medical this year. Medical visits for EVERYONE from here to December!! DH's bonus was less than expected - he got spun off to a different division's bonus system, and their system is harder to make the goals than his previous one's. But we're expecting it first paycheck in September - it goes to pay for oldest's eyeglasses since hers just broke. I worked a few more hours than normal due to my clerk being out on medical, so my last paycheck and next one are a little bigger than normal. Saw my first gas under $4 today! Whoo-hoo! All in all, making some itty-bitty progress here.

  20. That's how my parents traveled. We went on 4-6 week road trips every couple of years and shorter trips more often. I visited the 48 continental states before I was 15. My mom lived in an RV for 5 years after my dad passed away, and she pretty much just knew she was heading to X state and she'd figure it out the night before or even if she just saw something. DH was raised in a family that had an itinerary that said when and where they would stop, eat, sleep, etc. I about laughed myself silly the first time FIL emailed me their itinerary - it literally had where they would eat lunch and dinner with the complete addresses and phone numbers of the restaurant. I'd never seen such a thing in my life, even when we went to Europe when I was 12 (although that trip was obviously more planned than normal). I often barely knew what state my mother was parked in at the time. Dh's family went to visit their grandparents every summer for a week. They stayed at the same local campground for the other week of vacation. We do not travel well together. And now my kids don't travel well either (mostly because we've never been able to afford to travel), although they did travel with my mother in her camper for a few years. ETA: we always stop for historical markers. One time when my kids were about 6-11 yo, we were with my mom in the camper, and we stopped at one in Kansas. It was about the Bender Family, a family of serial killers who had run a boarding house in the area and killed the travelers. My children have never forgotten that tidbit of history LOL. Now they have some trepidation of historical markers. I'd love to do something like that, but I don't really have anyone to do it with. DH says he wants to travel once the kids are grown (youngest is 15, so not too long now), but I don't think it will go too well.
