  1. ... homeschooling other people's kids. I had a conversation with someone close to me about possibly homeschooling their child (long story there - won't go into that now), and I want to know if it's even legal. Where to begin?
  2. I second the JCPenney and the Lane Bryant. Both of those are my favorite, with JCP having a slight edge right now.
  3. Ok ... now I'm hungry! Some of our favorites are chicken pot pie grilled tilapia w/ roasted potatoes taco night chili red beans & rice
  4. I want to thank everyone for all the posts on various threads about taking it easy with our little ones. They have really encouraged me to take things slowly. I was worried that she didn't grasp things yesterday as well as I had hoped, but after reading posts last night I decided to take a deep breath and not worry about it. And you know what? This afternoon she started quoting our memory verse of the week on her own! :) I'm so happy. She's now happily cutting and pasting ... and making a number one out of paper ... all on her own (it's free craft time after table time). I'm so happy ... and just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have gone before me. You are truly a blessing!
  5. Doing OPGTR, Activities and Bible lessons from MFW-K, and other activities around those ... colors, shapes, etc. Going to go slow! No need to rush things. My main goal this year is to get in a habit of doing school, and to get her reading. She knows her letters and is constantly picking up her books to 'read' them. So, let's try and get her to actually read them! :)
  6. Ok ... it went pretty well today. Realized that 45 minutes is the most we can do at a sitting! (Which is fine, because it covered everything on my plan for today.) She's still excited ... hopefully it will last!
  7. Tomorrow is my dd's first official day of preK. I know it's just the beginning, but I'm really happy that we are going to officially start! I've known for so long that we were going to homeschool. I'm just really happy it's here! She's excited too. In fact, she asked if we could 'do school' after dinner tonight! :) Here's to tomorrow! Wish us luck.
  8. Me too! Me too! That was one of my absolute favorites!
  9. Baby wipes are AMAZING!!!! We use them for everything around here.
  10. I am interested in this also. I am considering going back to school for my nursing degree to work nights ... but I am committed to homeschooling more! Let me know how this works for nursing families!
  11. Can you clarify for me something, please ... RS = Rainbow Science? or Rod & Staff? Is there a website for Rainbow Science Math stuff I could look at?
  12. We're going to do Spanish and Latin ... although I'm not sure yet which one we'll start first.
  13. Ok ... I'm a complete newbie here ... officially starting our 1st! preK here we come. However, I've known since the day my dd was born that I was going to homeschool, so I've been preparing all along! Now only have one week left until we officially start! So looking forwar to the journey! :)
  14. I agree ... calories in, calories out. Eat less, exercise more! It's working for me!
  15. Thank you SOOOOOO much for this review. It is very helpful.
  16. I know TWTM suggests Saxon as a Math program, but I was wondering if there is any official review here of Rod & Staff Math for younger kids?
  17. I've been thinking the same thing all day today. I had my preK all planned out for my dd ... and after reading more today, I'm thinking of changing the wholet thing! Ugh ... we're supposed to start in a week and a half. I know it's not that crucial at her age, but is this a sign of things to come in the future? I'm glad it's not just me, though! :)
  18. Thank y'all so much! This thread, along with others, is really helping me crystallize what I want to do for my dd preK this fall!
  19. Please forgive me ... just when I think I have it all figured out, I see something I don't comprehend! What do JOI and IRTL stand for? Thanks!
  20. Thanks for the input. I guess I should have clarified, though. My dd is only 3 1/2 ... a very advanced 3 1/2, mind you. She is so excited about doing school, as am I - but I don't want to overwhelm her. Yet I want to take advantage of everything we can. That way she'll get a good start! Has anybody had any experience with 'Muzzy'?
