  1. Of course me, being so not creative or artsy but oh so very practical, is wondering what the purpose of knitting a cozy for a tree - or a mailbox - is?? :leaving:
  2. Is this the one by Nancy Campbell's daughter(s)? ETA: Never mind, just looked it up, and yes, it is that one.
  3. I am pretty sure the mentioned person is a spammer. I have seen the same "smiley montage" over and over again under different names the last couple of weeks.
  4. :iagree: This is something that I have had to push myself with this pregnancy. I fail miserably most of the time but the times I am able to keep a smile on my face, it sure makes me feel just the tiniest bit better. Most of the time. :p :iagree: At this point, I am just focusing on those who have to put up with me. LOL IOW, my husband and children. . . . and myself. Since I am a SAHM, and an introvert, I am rarely out and about anyways, so it is easier to make them my only focus on acting cheerful. Still, they do know when mama/wife is not doing well. Just yesterday, when I was in a lot of pain, my hands and feet were painfully swollen, and I was miserable, I did have to tell the kids "The best thing you can do right now is to just leave me alone." I had to learn to say that, in a calm and respectful manner, and it gives them a heads up that mama isn't at her best and to try again later. I am very sorry for those of you who are suffering with chronic pain, depression, etc. I suffer severely from SAD and have some other physical problems that I am sure stem from drained adrenals/tired thyroid but I cannot get my PCP to diagnose. After this pregnancy I hope to get some answers.
  5. That is awesome! Congratulations. Now, can you clone yourself and send your clone down to Texas? ;-)
  6. Now I have to look up these disc things y'all are talking about. I have no idea what they are for. Obviously I did not look at the arc stuff very carefully. . .
  7. Okay, now I will need to look into this Levenger product. . . Thanks for the advice re: the puncher. I haven't used arc products yet and so I wouldn't have known about it!
  8. No worries, Rebel Yell. I haven't received the newest one yet, either. :-(
  9. I am going to use the arc products for a teacher planner for me and a student planner for my 10yo dd this fall. I was going to go ahead and order them, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone knew if they regularly go on sale before, say, September? Thanks!
  10. No advice, just commiseration here. This past year was my hardest year homeschooling. My oldest is 10 and then the next two doing school are 8 and 6. It is hard to actually teach them when my ADHD 4yo dd and her partner in crime, the 2yo, interrupt literally every 20-30 seconds. Oh, and I have a surprise baby coming in August. The next few months will be spent trying to figure out the best strategy for keeping the 4yo and 2yo busy this fall so that I have time to actually teach the olders. I'm thinking lots of manipulatives and hands-on activities to pull out when school time starts. Also, getting my 10 year old to be more independent would help. <_<
  11. Welcome! I only have the third edition but will probably order the first through Amazon one of these days just to see how they compare. Sorry I cannot be of more help but it seems you have gotten plenty of helpful answers!
  12. Yep! I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with a baby conceive while on the pill and using condoms. Congratulations!!
  13. Thanks for all the answers and replies. I've learned quite a bit! Can I just say that first-time home buying is one of the scariest things I have ever considered?! LOL :scared:
  14. I am curious as to how much people actually put down on their homes? I know there are so many variables and I'd love to hear those, as well. We are hoping to be first-time home buyers at some point but honestly, I am unsure as to whether or not we will ever have enough for down payment. Thanks!
  15. Unfortunately, my brand new 64-bit windows computer does not have the "print to OneNote" option available. I have looked for ways to fix this and it seems it is just not allowed on the 64-bits. Is there any other way to add pages and docs to OneNote since print to OneNote isn't an option?
  16. Type to Learn 4 is available at a decent price on HSBC. Has anyone used it? I cannot find many reviews on it. Thanks!
  17. I will be going through the Ancients this upcoming school year with my will-be 5th grader, 3rd grader, and 1st graders. We are going to use SOTW Vol. 1 as our spine, as well as the AG for the two younger, and I would also like to get some of the other references mentioned in TWTM, edition 3, to go along as supplements, especially for my 5th grader. However, if I use what is in TWTM, I get a whole list of really expensive and possibly out-of-print books that I will need to buy. This is what I have listed: The Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia of World History; Usborne Book of World History; National Geographic Concise History of the World: An Illustrated Time Line; National Geographic World Atlas for Young Explorers; Geography Coloring Book; Kingfisher History Encyclopedia (Revised); The Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World This just seems like too much. Now, I know I will need to get extra books because I have two-grammar stage children but also a logic stage child who will need something more advanced. Also, I realize that those are geography books and history books. Still, I would appreciate other peoples' eyes to tell me which books are redundant and not necessary. Thanks!
  18. I apologize for not getting to this sooner. Our modem went out. . . ack! Anyways, we do not want to continue with Easy Grammar because DD hated it and so I am looking for something new for her to use. I am leaning more towards R&S because it includes so many area of language arts, though I think we will also start SWI-A or B from IEW. I probably will go a grade lower for R&S with her, though this is one of those times I wish I could hold the curricula in my hands to compare it. One of these days, I'll make my dream of starting a homeschooling curricula chain store a reality . . .
  19. Okay, well, I just used the RR chat feature and got the prices and item #s that way. For this visual person, it was very helpful to see it laid out that way. Just a FYI for those who might not know about the RR chat option!
