  1. No, it isn't really that much trouble (other than the fact that I HATE speaking on the phone :tongue_smilie: ) but rather that I am very visual and like to see prices and shipping right before me in order to compare and see what is really the better option. I know in the back of my mind I will probably end up just ordering through RR but just thought I would see if there was any other place to order R&S from other than those two.
  2. A little background: My 10yo dd has had little grammar instruction. She *just* finished EG's Daily Guided Teaching and Review for grade 2. So, yes, she is sorely behind. She also needs a LOT of hand-holding in all of her school work. I am trying to teach her to be more independent and need less of Mommy to figure out what needs to be done. I really want to use the 5th grade to catch-up and strengthen her grammar this next school year. With all that in mind, is R&S English for 5th grade something that will work? Or is there something else that may work better. FLL books aren't in her age group, are they? And doesn't FLL require a lot of handholding? Will FLL teach her to learn independently? Thanks for any and all help.
  3. I see that R&S curricula can be bought through milestonebooks.com (with a pretty high shipping rate) or through Rainbow Resource (however, you have to call them in order to find out pricing and ordering information). Is there anywhere else online that you can buy R&S?
  4. I know! I felt as if I should have put one of these at the end of my post -----> :leaving:
  5. Florida. Can't wait to leave Texas!
  6. Hits: MUS Primer and Alpha AAR 1 Misses: MFW ECC MUS Gamma The Easy French
  7. So sick of living in chaos. I know life is not supposed to be easy, but good grief.

  8. All of my children would have eaten either one of those cakes. I would have, as well. :drool5:
  9. When I was badly sunburned a few years ago during my 2nd trimester, my midwife made sure I did things to build up my immune system. She said that sunburn during pregnancy can adversely affect the mother's immune system. So, along with lots of water, I would have her research safe ways to build up her immune system. hth
  10. I deactivated my account last October with the intention of just keeping it off for NaNoWriMo. Here it is, May, and I still haven't turned it back on. I have no intention of it, either, as I found I didn't miss it so much.
  11. I believe you have to have posted ten times before you are allowed to edit your profile. At least, it was that way for me when I joined a few months ago. hth
  12. Just realized, one thing I do is switch off reading with my 10 year old who is a strong reader. We sometimes take turns and this helps with the reading quite a bit. Not sure if you have a child old enough to do that with, but just an idea.
  13. I, too, am the same way. Love the idea but after a few minutes of it, I am sick of it. No ideas for you, just commiseration. :-) ETA: fix spelling
  14. Thanks for this recommendation. I'll try going in to a Dillard's next year, after I've had baby and nursing has settled down a bit. Hopefully they will be able to help!
  15. I believe Elemental Science also sells the kit with items necessary for their experiments.
  16. I'd love to get "professionally fitted" but where the heck are these stores that offer these so called fittings? I've gotten one done at JC Penney and that was a joke.
  17. This app looks really helpful. The only thing keeping me from downloading it is the fact that I hate having to type a bunch via my iPad and planning would require that. I wish they had the option to type using the computer and then somehow transferring that info to the app itself. Wishful thinking. . .
  18. Happy Birthday!

  19. It is absolutely okay! I got so sick of MFW ECC this past month that I just dropped it, we aren't going to even finish it. Instead, we are using this time to really work on each child's individual weaknesses. I have actually noticed more genuine learning going on doing it this way. Forcing myself to continue what clearly was becoming a waste of time was making everyone unhappy.
