I'd expect them to do x-rays, be realistic in their conversations with you about what they believe they can and can't help with, and give you an estimated length of treatment and maintenance schedule.

I found cleaning checklists for each room in the house on Pinterest and divided the checklist into three parts (for three kids). Each day is a different room (so, everyone is working on the same room on the same day - living room day, kitchen day, etc). And I made an excel spreadsheet for that has each kids' chores M-F that sits on our fridge door. It's a three week rotation, so no one has to do the same thing every time. I have all 3 weeks worth of spreadsheets printed and inside a sheet protector, so each week, I just move the next week's spreadsheet to the front. If we go on vacation or get off schedule or the house is just randomly in chaos, I have the room checklists from Pinterest printed and laminated, hanging on a hook on a wall in each room,and everyone just gets assigned a room and goes through the checklist. To make it easier, each shared room has its own cleaning bucket with any supplies they'd need to clean that particular room.

My kids (about to be 8/10/12) have a rotating chore list each week that includes: Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, baseboards, Windows, and picking up the dining room, living room, hallways, laundry room, their bathroom, and kitchen. It also includes their bathtub, toilet, and counters. They are responsible for their own rooms and laundry. And each day, they are assigned one pickup area (living, bathroom, kitchen) to be done in the afternoon before they go out to play with friends. They have a rotating schedule for feeding, walking, and picking up poop from the dog. They clear the table and do the dishes each night (unless one of them cooks, then they are exempt from cleaning). They're also responsible for trash.

It really does get easier. Mine now wake up before me, bring me coffee, make their own breakfasts, and get started in their school work before I even get out of bed. I can run to the store for whatever we need by myself. They look at thee chore chart for the week and just do their chores as written. There is still Hard, of course. But the logistics of life are so much easier.

Your kids are so little. Little enough that crisis management is the game and will be for some time. I hired out the deep cleaning once a month when mine were bitties. And we ate a lot of crock pot or frozen foods. And I don't do much in the way of planned schooling until 3rd grade, at least. It gets easier. Mine are 11, 9, and 7 now. They are very independent, they help with so much of the upkeep of the house, and they help plan and cook meals. Cut yourself some slack. Breathe. And breathe again. Know that if you have kept everyone alive during these early years, that can be a day's work all on it's own.

I'm so glad to read this! I bought the Blue series on sale and decided to switch to it for all of my kids,but didn't know if I should purchase the light blue now, too. Yea!

We're loving Rainbow Science, too. Bonus for me is that the lab kit comes with everything we need at all, except water.

We're using Rainbow science (and love it). Over two years, they cover physics - > chemistry - > biology - > applications of science

I aim to have any scheduled work take less than 3 hours, on average. Most of his work is independent, with me available for any questions/conversations. We don't have a set schedule - they have a weekly calendar that lets them know if we have appointments or things scheduled on any given day, and other than that, they can work however/whenever they want, but can't go play with friends until they're done with school work and chores.

Ours would more accurately read, "because I'm a homeschool mom!" 😂
