  1. I did too.... and I am also. The title of the news article did not do the actions/video justice. I can't wrap my mind around the adults involved (parents, educators, etc...)justifying the event on any level of normalcy :001_huh:...stomach wrenching really, and probably illegal in many states :tongue_smilie:
  2. High school 'prank' has blindfolded students kissing...their parents :ack2: http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=698269#.TuvXrM2EbNk (news clip)
  3. I have one I CAN say, but always (mentally) second guess myself on ...camembert. Relatively innocuous word, right? Yet I end up with the same mental discussion....bear, bay, burr....not bert...right?? ha! It's a mental loop...who's on first?...and though I DO know the answer, sadly can't get away from the question :glare: ...I'll just call it brie ;)
  4. I haven't read the thread, save the first page of comments...but.... since a very young age we have taken the kids to museums (modern, science, fine arts, etc...) and nude statues/paintings have always been a non issue for us. We even have a beautiful Degas charcoal nude art print hanging in our home....the closest "uncomfortable" issue I had run into was an audio guide to a Picasso exhibit when the boys were tweens...got tad graphic. yet I was a bit shocked when our the Fine Arts museum sent us a card/invitation, to a Helmut Newton exhibit, that was a photographed nude woman with all her lady parts displayed ...it is just different in a photo..it is for me at least...and very different when my young teen boys get the mail! So, I think I am pretty liberal with painted art and statues...but I guess not with photography! ...and not when it comes unsolicited to my kitchen counter.
  5. yep...I am pretty fed up. If it isn't mindless and ill written, well then it usually makes up for it by being offensive (to me) :glare: yet...there are some good ones that keep drawing me back in, keeping me from totally closing the door...but they are the minority ;)
  6. More thoughts on the history behind simplifying the English language. What are your thoughts wimmen? (and men ;) ) I'll just hold my tung.... http://www.merriam-webster.com/info/noah.htm
  7. In DC even the Spelling Bee draws protesters... http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h1bmf2tG4WxyUwMd4tmmmxpVTW6gD9G40H601
  8.:lol::lol: When I married my mil gave me a flowbee...took me a few years to wean him off and into a salonLOL. That thing was a riot, good memories...thanks for the laugh:lol:
  9. When we went to see STS-124 we bought tix at NASA online for the causeway. If I remember correctly, it is the closest the public can be for viewing...and it was really great. You park at Kennedy and they shuttle you over.... Update... read the other posts and checked, yes it is sold out....but I do remember that many people who stayed at our hotel (Hilton Cocoa Beach) watched the launch from the beach areas.
  10. It is year one...I purchased it from Adoremus books by mistake...I thought it was Latin Road Level one *argh!*...it was a very expensive blonde-moment mistake! I didn't even notice for 2 months because I bought it before our summer break and when I started cracking out the new year's curriculum and checking it out, I realized what I had done:scared: but because it had been 2 months and they would not take it back =( I have level one complete set plus one extra student package, none was used...my kids are much older!
  11. I have this (phonics road complete set) totally unused, brand new and has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time.... if anyone is interested in buying via paypal please pm me :001_smile:
  12. ...and I will "second" on the expense of Rosetta Stone.
  13. ...I can't believe my sister pays $30,000 a year in lower school tuition for two kids (it's a good school, but oh my!) and that tuition is raised slightly each year :tongue_smilie: For me? I can't believe how pricey the "healthier" foods are...but I am willing to pay. I can't believe how expensive my electric bill is in summer...wowzer! I can't believe someone is willing to spend $1800 for a 1yr package (equals 3 full sets) of Lash (yes eyelash) extensions! I can't believe I even know that fact, but a boutique/spa that caters exclusively to lash extensions opened up a few years ago nearby. When the economy hit bottom, I thought---wow, that place will be the first to go under! ...and yet here it is still thriving!
  14. I would say yes it is more tart (I think that equals yummier too =0)*)...it is always very creamy! We use one 1/2 gallon carton of organic whole milk and about one cup of organic 1/2 and 1/2 in each batch.... no sweeteners or gelatins etc... while batching. Then when it's ready it can be eaten any way you like...plain, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon, add fruit, nuts...and even for making "ice cream"....we also use it the other way as a topping for anything that would call for sour cream or to make veggie dips...love it!
