  1. Their spam filter is almost perfect. I don't think it's ever let spam in, or put good mail in the spam folder. Doesn't help with your current email address though ...
  2. It might not have as much detail as you want, but Story of the World is a start. Looking through the table of contents, I see: Africa--one non-Egypt chapter (several about Egypt) China--three chs. (including one about Confucius) India--two chs. The Americas--one ch. You can see the complete TOC here: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/cwhcontents.html
  3. I've seen it, too. The episode in which they make fun of Martha's guest who was an expert in housecleaning. She showed Martha how to load a dishwasher. :D
  4. I'm so glad this is a hypothetical situation. If it were real, I would be jealous. But it's purely hypothetical, so I'm not. What a relief.
  5. I think they use a lot of process (blow drying, flat ironing) and a lot of product (mousse, etc.) I watch a lot of these shows, too. Also, I am of African descent and, I know you're not talking about my kind of hair, but the same applies--lots of process, lots of product. :D
  6. I like to cook, but everyday around this time I groan, wondering what I will make for dinner (DH wants to go out tonight. Yay!) I'm a little limited by DH's (milk and wheat) and DD4's allergies (milk). Fish is out for everyone (except me, but I'm not cooking fish for myself only). There are very few *interesting* meals that I can make for all 5 of us. DH cooks for himself a lot, and I often have what he's made for himself. But for the kids it's usually rice or pasta, chicken, and vegetables (broccoli, roasted carrots, or whatever veggie mix I have in the freezer).
  7. Our case was a little different because DH and I (really DH) were the founders and majority owners, so DH drew up the contract. So I'm not sure how you could approach your friends. The agreement we had outlined EVERYTHING, including: amount of each member's initial contribution to company responsibility for debts and liabilities access to books and records admittance of new members removal of members dissolution of the company liquidation of the company I'm chatting with my husband right now and he wants to know if your husband is buying his stake or they're just giving it to him because he's a good guy. :D I do really hope things go well for you!!
  8. Just want to ditto what's been said so far. Wonderful that you are kind to her, wise to be discreet about sharing with her. I am also concerned about this business relationship. Even if her husband does not make her a legal partner in the company, she IS his partner. I advise your husband to have a very detailed and specific agreement about the terms of his employment. Having had the experience of a business partnership with now former friends, I HOPE everything goes as you plan. But the contract will protect your family and possibly the friendship in case things don't.
  9. Over the summer I'd like to go through the book of Acts with DC. We've done the Ancients this past year and are about to study Rome. I thought it would be an interesting way to the Middle Ages, and learn some history and geography while studying the Bible. Anyway, I'm surfing for ideas, and I've come to at least three timelines now that say Jesus was born in 4 or 5 BC (here's one of them: http://www.abideinchrist.com/messages/actstime.html). Huh??? Someone please explain that to me. :)
  10. You might find some interesting reading here: http://www.icr.org/recent-creation/.
  11. But the first that come to mind are Praise You in This Storm and In Christ Alone (this version: ). My favorite lines: No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns again, or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand But I love all of it ...
  12. Or Weggies as I sometimes call it. There are at least 6 other grocery stores that are closer to my home, but Wegmans has the best prices, selection, and customer service. I was really impressed on one visit when I asked a teenaged male employee a question about apples. I don't remember his answer, but I just remember that he was mature, friendly, and knowledgable. Every couple of months they forget to put one of my bags in the cart :D but other than that it's delightful.
  13. I'm watching Goldilocks and The Three Bears (Los tres osos) right now. Very cute. Thanks for the tip!
  14. Certainly not dining! Guess where I'm sitting right now. :D
  15. Months after being kicked out of the dining room (seems some people don't like having the dining table covered with books and papers all the time), I have the IKEA Vika table for school and I'm soooo excited!! Is it wrong to love a piece of furniture?? It just makes me very happy. No more clearing everything off the kitchen table to do a lesson, then clearing all the school stuff off to eat. Everything is in one place. DD5 seems to like it the most. She's always finding a reason to sit at it. She actually seems to enjoy school more. And now I learn that the EXPEDIT bookshelves I've been drooling over will be 50% off this weekend. Rejoice with me!
  16. I just posted my astonishment at some of these incredible MIL stories. It's just unfathomable. Maybe because I couldn't have asked for better in-laws. My mother-, father-, and sisters-in-law (as well as their son, my DH) are the kindest and most generous people I've ever met. From the moment I met them, they've treated me as one of the family. They have never said a single critical or unkind thing to me. I am so very, very grateful.
  17. It's not that I think any of you are dishonest, but these are MIL stories are UNBELIEVABLE!!! There are usually at least two sides to every story--each person feels justified. How on earth are these MILs justifying this dreadful behavior to themselves? I JUST.DON'T.GET.IT!
