Grieving, and friends, or lack thereof
Alexandra replied to 3lilreds in NC's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I could just see the picture in my mind's eye. I had a couple of thoughts about her passing...One thing someone told me was that grief is cyclacle (sp?) not linear. You might find yourself in this state of intense grief some time down the road. I found this information to be helpful. Also, I just thought those stories were wonderful. I saw on the other thread that I asked about interviewing elders that you wished you had. Maybe when you have the energy you might collect stories about her. You could write your own but you could also ask others about their memories about her. What a character she must have been! I would bet many people have a nice story to tell about her. Sending warm thoughts your way. Alexandra -
Does anyone have any experience with doing this sort of thing. I think that many members of my family as well as my husband's are quite amazing and have led fascinating lives. I would love to interview them and get some of their stories down on paper. Some would not agree to it out of a sense of shyness but some might just agree... Does anyone have any experience or tips on how to go about doing this? Thanks!

Is this something that is justified for nuisance behavior like rough play, mounting or barking to be let in? I am just so bothered by the idea and wanted to know what others think. I am not planning on using one but I am asking on behalf of someone else's dog ( I have posted a million times about this dog - ya'all are probably sick of me. Hornblower I should come mow your lawn - Astrid's too!). Thanks for all feedback.

I am asking about a 18 month old Standard Poodle. He plays like a nut and also tries to mount the other dogs. How would one curtail this behaviour. Thanks!

Ok I am kidding but honestly I thought eating this way was just awful! Reminded me of the saying "Do you live longer or does it just seem that way". I think that the diet is must be really healthy but I personally was tremedously irritable by mid afternoon. Of the half dozen or so people that I know who have tried the diet - not one has maintained it.

This sounds like something that I experienced when I put my hair up in a ponytail while it was still wet. OTOH I can NOT STAND not washing daily. I would wash (dahily) and blow dry if I were you. Good Luck!

I spent $60 at Amazon because of you btw. :001_smile: (And now for something totally different) I bought that book you mentioned in a prior post about having multiple dogs. I also bought others about dog behaviour. One that I am especially interested in is called Canine Body Language. Thanks, Alexandra

Loss of our dog
Alexandra replied to Mom in High Heels's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking to lose a member of the family like that. :grouphug: -
My mil just told me that she has had diarrhea since about mid-week. She has not noticed blood in stool and is not chilled. Is this something you would call her MD about on a Saturday night or should I just wait until tomorrow or Monday? She is a little lethargic but is lucid and not terribly unhappy. I bought some Gatorade for her. I am her go-to person for going to MD appointments, hospital, getting meds etc. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I fostered a standard poodle. He was given up by a woman who claimed that he was a very, very bad and unruly dog. You know the choke collars with the prongs on the inside...when the dog pulls, the prongs go in and give the dog a pinch? She had the prong collar taut so that the prongs were putting constant pressure on the dog. First thing I did was take that off. He stayed with us for just a few weeks while my mom had some remodeling done at which point she was ready to take him. I have never really cared for poodles but this dog is so wonderful. He is kind, loving and such a teddy bear. ASide from counter surfing and one spat with a smaller dog he was just great. I just dropped him off this afternoon and I miss him already. I don't know how people foster pups and are able to part with them. Bittersweet.
