  1. I know this is OT but can anyone tell me if it is okay if I sent query letters for the same book to several publishers at once? Thank you!
  2. Has anyone tried the new WW system and found success with it? Alexandra
  3. I am working on an invitation. I would like it to say 'no gifts please' but I know most people will bring one anyway. Can I say 'If you insist on giving something, I would be honored if you would make a small donation to xyz organization? How would one word that gracefully? Thanks
  4. I have gone from having not bad skin to having a terrible time with my T-zone. Honestly I have four breakouts right now - why would that happen so suddenly? It seems silly to post about this in light of everything else going on right now but I would love some advice... TY
  5. I love to spend time writing but find it difficult to spend time with my writing also take care of other responsiblities. Stephen King says 2,000 words. Do you have a number, if so would you consider sharing it?
  6. I just went to for a checkup and my gyn. offers this as part of a diet plan she has. I was surprised because it sounded extreme. Has anyone ever heard of this? Alexandra
  7. Does anyone have a book or resource that they could suggest? Also, is it imperative to have an agent?
  8. There was a lady who wrote about this issue - I think it was in Oprah's magazine. Her husband asked her for a divorce and she said no - actually she said, "I don't believe you." She just continued on with her business until many months later he returned emotionally. If I remember correctly there was no abuse or infidelity. Obviously wouldn't work for everyone... I wish you the best of luck.
  9. I got the materials yesterday but did not stay for the meeting. It took forever to get registered! Anyway I am not sure where in all the literature that I got will I find the method for calculating points? Is it in there somewhere or do I need the little calculator? TYVM
  10. I have heard of ES helping people with nightmares or night terrors. She could take a nice soak in a tub before bedtime. I have also heard of people just soaking their feet in a basin. Good luck!
  11. Does this happen to other people as well? I would spend the afternoon writing and then corner my husband when he got home from work. "Listen to THIS!" I would then read the day's work to him. I marveled at it and he endured it. Well what did KINGM say on a previous thread...that the first million words are crap? Well only 960,000 more to go. My poor husband.
  12. crap. As I wrote them they seemed so very clever and they compelled me to write even more and more! This is fun! Writing is so easy! At second glance, I could see that it all needed a little nip here a little tuck there. I have spent a little more time reading it and now it seems like the work of a third grader except perhaps not as well constructed. Thank goodness November is almost over!
  13. What age child would enjoy this book? I had heard that it is violent...? Thanks! Alexandra
  14. Does anyone out there feel like sharing how they have improved their own writing. I am guessing there are several avenues such as: just write as much as possible and allow it to improve, read books about writing (I just bought Creative Writing for Dummies - don't laugh!), or attend classes or workshops, or perhaps all three. I would love to hear what has worked for others! Thanks!
  15. That sounds like a good idea. I guess my question boils down to is if it is a matter of cleanliness or hydration. I will add in the cranberry pills as there are probably few side effects. Thanks!
  16. My mil has been getting UTIs lately and when she does it seems to involve a trip to the ER, EKG, cathiterization (she is too dehydrated to give urine sample) etc. She struggles with memory issues and is incontinent. She still lives at home - next door to me. Is there some way that I can help her do some preventive medicine here? Also, (sorry if this is TMI) but are UTIs caused by...poop? I had heard that a UTI is brought on by tiny amounts of feces being introduced to the urethra (sp?), My mother said that the reason MIL is getting uti is solely from dehydration. If it is merely dehydration then that seems prtty straight forward as far as prevention. If it is a matter of feces, well then it seems that wearing depends would really increase likelihood of this situation. She was super dehydrated but I am not sure if that was an underlying condition or the result of her infection and subsequent confusion and forgetting to drink. Thanks for any thoughts on how I can help her. A
  17. It seems that everyone has made the point for bloodwork but I also wanted to mention this. There is a generic brand of shampoo that every once in a while I buy accidentally and my hair starts falling out. I think that stress also contributes to hairloss. Get some good shampoo on your way home from the doctor's office. :001_smile:
  18. My sister's newborn has a terrible red (looks like a chemical burn) rash in a quarter-sized area around her rectum. She screams when she has a bm and is making my sister so upset. This is her first child and I didn't know what to tell her. She said that the rash started about 3 days ago and that today the poop changed from dijon mustard to more yellowish in color. DS has tried Budro's Butt Paste and has d/c using baby wipes. She is bf exclusively. Any thoughts that might help a new mom get a little sleep? Thanks!!!
  19. I had a ped. cardiologist do some imaging on his heart and he ruled it out. Good luck with this.
